Tektronix TICP025 IsoVu Current Probe, 250 MHz, 1.4 ns Rise Time, Isolated Shunt Sensing

The Tektronix TICP025 IsoVu current probe is the 250 MHz entry point of the TICP family. It measures current across a shunt through an isolated path, with a typical 1.4 ns rise time. Lost in HCM supplies it for rent or sale.

Description

Plenty of chargers, converters and motor drives do not need gigahertz bandwidth to show their current waveforms. For that work, the Tektronix TICP025 IsoVu current probe is the TICP model to look at first. It measures current through a shunt and keeps the reading on an isolated path. Its rise time is 1.4 ns, typical.

Is 250 MHz enough for your edges?

A quick check helps here. Compare the fastest current edge you expect with that 1.4 ns figure. If your edges are clearly slower, the TICP025 should follow them. However, if they come close, step up to the TICP050 at 500 MHz or the TICP100 at 1 GHz. Remember that the shunt and its leads also limit the full system.

Shunt insertion and scaling

A shunt changes the circuit a little, so check its effect before you trust the waveform. Pick a resistance that gives a readable voltage without much loss. Next, confirm its power and pulse limits. Finally, convert the reading with I = Vshunt / Rshunt and apply that scale to the trace.

Where the Tektronix TICP025 IsoVu current probe earns its place

Battery management boards, on-board chargers and appliance motor drives are good examples. In those designs, current often flows through nodes that float above ground. Production engineers can also compare current waveforms from a good unit and a failed one. Meanwhile, test labs may use it to check inrush or ripple during design verification.

Shared TICP specifications

  • Gain accuracy at DC: ±1.5% typical.
  • Cable length: 2 m.
  • 1X tip input: 50 Ω.
  • Noise: 4.70 nV/√Hz typical.

Quotes for the TICP025

Lost in HCM rents and sells this probe, and it arranges service when you ask. A short rental suits a single product launch or a supplier audit. If several teams need it, buying is often the better plan. When you request a quote from Lost in HCM, add your scope model, current level, shunt value and any accessories you need. You can also look at other oscilloscope probes, read more on the Tektronix site, or contact SMK Vietnam. Follow the manufacturer’s manual and ratings in every setup with the Tektronix TICP025 IsoVu current probe.

TICP025 buyer questions

How does the TICP025 differ from the TICP050?

Bandwidth and rise time. The TICP025 offers 250 MHz and 1.4 ns, while the TICP050 offers 500 MHz and 700 ps.

Do I need my own shunt?

Plan for a suitable shunt in your circuit. Then confirm any included accessories in the quote.

How long is the probe cable?

It is 2 m. Plan the bench so the scope sits within reach.
