Description
Some currents are simply too large for a clamp. The Rohde & Schwarz CMN50HF30 probe is a Rogowski current probe. So it uses a thin, flexible coil that wraps around the conductor. An integrator then turns the coil signal into a current waveform for your oscilloscope. It handles up to 6 kA from 1.5 Hz to 50 MHz. Lost in HCM offers it for rental and sale in Vietnam.

Where 6 kA of headroom pays off
Within the CMN50HF set, this model carries the highest current. So the Rohde & Schwarz CMN50HF30 probe suits the largest events on a power test floor, such as these.
- Short-circuit and fault tests on big power modules.
- Inrush when large motors or transformers switch on.
- Pulsed power, welding and surge test rigs.
- Switching current on bus bars in traction and storage inverters.
Living with a 1 mV/A output
A wide range always costs signal level. At 1 mV/A, a 100 A ripple shows up as only 100 mV on screen. Therefore set the channel scaling with care, and choose a smaller sibling when your currents stay low. Also, conductor position and nearby cables can shift a Rogowski reading. So follow the Rohde & Schwarz setup notes.
The coil also has a clear limit. Because its band begins at 1.5 Hz, it does not see steady DC. Instead it follows the changing part of a current, such as edges, ripple and pulses.
Buying or renting the Rohde & Schwarz CMN50HF30 probe
Many teams need a 6 kA coil for one test campaign, so a rental fits well. Others run fault tests every month and would rather own one. In both cases, request a quote from Lost in HCM with your scope model, peak and RMS current, conductor size and project dates. CMN50HF30 questions
Can the CMN50HF30 measure DC current?
No. Its listed band starts at 1.5 Hz, so it reads changing current only. For DC work, look at a clamp-style current probe instead.
Which oscilloscope input does it need?
The listing asks for a scope input that suits the probe output. Confirm the termination and scaling with Lost in HCM before you book.
How does it differ from the CMN50HF15?
Both share the 50 MHz top end, the 2.5 m cable and the 100 mm coil. However, the Rohde & Schwarz CMN50HF30 probe doubles the range to 6 kA. It also halves the output to 1 mV/A and reaches down to 1.5 Hz.
