Description
Plenty of test setups bring their signals out on 4 mm banana sockets. The Rohde & Schwarz RT-ZA31 leads are an extended cable set that links those sockets to the R&S RT-ZVC multi-channel probe. Rohde & Schwarz lists it as one current and voltage lead for 4 mm probing, with a length of 32 cm.
Banana plugs on one end
The R&S product photo shows two white cables. Each has a metal circular connector at the probe end and a red and blue pair of 4 mm banana plugs at the other. As a result, the leads plug into standard red and black, or red and blue, sockets without any adapter.
Good homes for the Rohde & Schwarz RT-ZA31 leads
- Test fixtures and breakout boxes that expose supply and shunt points on 4 mm jacks.
- Battery or power-module test benches where wiring runs to a socket panel.
- Teaching and university labs, because many of them standardize on banana-socket boards.

In each case, the 32 cm length gives some room between the RT-ZVC and the socket panel. Even so, route the leads away from noisy switching wiring.
RT-ZA31 or RT-ZA30
Both sets share the 32 cm length and the RT-ZVC fit. Still, the difference sits at the far end. The RT-ZA31 carries 4 mm banana plugs, while the RT-ZA30 ends in PCB pin sockets for header pins. So pick the RT-ZA31 when your points are sockets, and the RT-ZA30 when they are pins on a board.
Check before you measure
Look over the plugs and insulation before each session, and replace any lead with a cracked shroud. Also, note which lead feeds which RT-ZVC channel in your test record. Then a repeat run uses the same wiring.
