Tektronix TICPMM10ET Probe Tip, 10X MMCX, ±5 V, -40 to +125 °C Rated

Tektronix TICPMM10ET probe tip: the 10X extreme-temperature MMCX tip for TICP IsoVu current probes. It covers a ±5 V differential range with a 500 Ω input and runs at tip temperatures up to +125 °C.

Description

Some shunt signals are too big for a 1X tip yet too small to waste on 100X. For that middle ground, the Tektronix TICPMM10ET probe tip divides the signal by 10. It is an extreme-temperature (ET) MMCX tip, which means the tip can work from -40 °C up to +125 °C. Its job is simple: it carries the voltage from a shunt or test point into a Tektronix TICP IsoVu isolated current probe.

The middle step of the ET range

Tektronix offers ET tips at 1X, 10X and 100X. This one sits in the center, so it trades some range for better resolution than the 100X part. In practice, you get a ±5 V differential window and a matching ±5 V offset range. The tip also lists a maximum measurable input of 6.5 V peak. Signal plus offset must stay within that peak value, so leave margin for spikes.

What the source packet lists

  • Attenuation: 10X, with an MMCX connector on the DUT side
  • Differential input range: ±5 V
  • Offset range: ±5 V, and combined limits apply
  • Maximum measurable input: 6.5 V peak
  • Input impedance: 500 Ω || <3 pF
  • Tip operating range: -40 °C to +125 °C
  • Tip storage range: -40 °C to +85 °C
  • Probe family: TICP025, TICP050 and TICP100, so confirm your full setup

Hot-zone jobs for the Tektronix TICPMM10ET probe tip

Think of tests where the board, not the bench, sets the temperature. For instance, a power supply team may run burn-in at high ambient. An automotive supplier may check a DC-DC module across its full thermal sweep. Likewise, a battery lab may log pack current inside a climate chamber. In each case, the 10X step of this Tektronix TICPMM10ET probe tip keeps a mid-size shunt signal in range while the tip sits in the heat.

Mind the rest of the chain

The 125 °C figure belongs to the tip alone. Meanwhile, the probe body and the oscilloscope keep their own limits, so route them away from the hot zone. Also, read current as shunt voltage divided by shunt resistance, then apply the 10X factor. Above all, follow the manufacturer’s manual and ratings.

Questions about the 10X ET tip

Why is the range ±5 V when the maximum is 6.5 V peak?

The ±5 V figure is the differential input range. The 6.5 V peak value is the maximum measurable input, and signal plus offset must stay under it.

Can the tip wait in the chamber between tests?

Check the storage range first. The tip operates up to +125 °C, but its storage limit is -40 °C to +85 °C.

Which probes take this tip?

The source lists the TICP025, TICP050 and TICP100. Even so, confirm the complete connection setup before you order.
