Description
Ripple and switching spikes on a DC rail are small, fast and easy to miss. The Rohde & Schwarz RT-ZPR40 probe targets exactly that job. It is a power-rail probe with 4 GHz of bandwidth, 1:1 attenuation, a 50 kΩ input and up to ±60 V of offset.

Why 1:1 matters for rail noise
A standard 10:1 probe divides the signal before it reaches the scope. Then the scope’s own noise looks ten times larger relative to the rail. A 1:1 probe skips that loss, so tiny ripple stays above the noise floor. As a result, you can judge decoupling and regulator behavior with more confidence.
Offset does the heavy lifting
The probe’s dynamic range is ±0.85 V. That sounds small, but the ±60 V offset moves the DC level out of the way first. For example, you can center the trace on a rail and then zoom in on the ripple alone. Therefore one probe covers low-voltage core rails as well as higher bus voltages within that offset range.

Good practice at the test point
- Use the shortest signal and ground path you can, since long loops pick up switching noise.
- Inspect the tip, cable and connector before each session.
- Record the probe and scope models with your results, so a later run matches.
Buy, rent and quote
The RT-ZPR40 connects through the Rohde & Schwarz probe interface, so check that your scope has it. The oscilloscope ships separately, and the kit contents belong in the quote. Lost in HCM rents and sells the probe and arranges service on request; SMK Vietnam only lists it. Send the scope model, contact method, quantity and dates, then request a quote from Lost in HCM. RT-ZPR40 FAQ
What does a power-rail probe do that a normal probe cannot?
It pairs 1:1 attenuation with a large offset. So it can show small ripple on a DC rail without the extra noise of a 10:1 divider.
How high a rail voltage can it handle?
The offset reaches ±60 V, and the dynamic range around that offset is ±0.85 V.
Does the Rohde & Schwarz RT-ZPR40 probe include an oscilloscope?
No. The scope is a separate order, so confirm the kit contents in your quote.
