Description
Fast serial links leave little room for probe loading. The Rohde & Schwarz RT-ZD40 probe is an active differential probe with 4.5 GHz of bandwidth, the fastest model in the RT-ZD family. Its 1 MΩ input with only 0.4 pF of capacitance keeps the load on a high-speed line light.

Built for edges that matter
A differential probe reads the voltage between two points rather than against ground. So it suits pairs such as clock lines and serial data lanes, where ground noise would spoil a single-ended reading. In addition, 4.5 GHz of bandwidth leaves headroom for sharp rise times. As a result, the scope shows edges and eye shapes closer to what the receiver actually sees.

Controls on the probe head
Rohde & Schwarz lists two extras: R&S ProbeMeter and a micro button for instrument control. The ProbeMeter works as a built-in voltmeter, so you can read a DC level whatever the vertical scale. Meanwhile, the micro button sits on the probe body, which saves a reach to the front panel during a delicate hold.
Signal levels to respect
Keep the differential signal within ±5 V and each input within ±8 V of ground. For example, a low-voltage serial pair fits with room to spare, while a 12 V rail does not. Therefore, check the common-mode level before you touch down. Above those limits, choose a high-voltage differential probe instead.
Scope fit and quotes
The probe needs a Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscope with the R&S probe interface. Tip modules, accessories and the scope itself carry separate order numbers, so list the whole chain. Lost in HCM rents and sells the Rohde & Schwarz RT-ZD40 probe and arranges service on request, while SMK Vietnam only lists it. Send your scope model, signal levels, tip style and dates, then request a quote from Lost in HCM. You can also browse more oscilloscope probes, read the R&S active differential probe page, or contact SMK Vietnam.
RT-ZD40 FAQ
Why pick the RT-ZD40 over a slower RT-ZD model?
Choose it for short rise times and high data rates. It also loads the circuit less: R&S lists 0.4 pF here, against 0.6 pF for the 3 GHz RT-ZD30.
Does the RT-ZD40 come with an oscilloscope?
No. The scope is a separate order, and the quote should confirm which tips and accessories ship with the probe.
Which order number should my request show?
Use 1410.5205.02, the manufacturer number for this probe.
