Description
When a team checks the same node on board after board, a loose probe tip slows every unit down. The Rohde & Schwarz RT-ZA27 adapter gives that node a fixed connection instead. It is a straight 2.5 mm PCB adapter for passive probes: a board-side part that a compatible probe meets head-on, from directly above the board.
Repeatable probing on prototypes and pilot runs
Think of a power rail that every engineer on the project wants to see. With a hand-held tip, each person lands on a slightly different spot. With an adapter on the board, the probe goes to the same point every time. As a result, captures from different days and different people line up better, and a design review compares like with like.
Pilot builds benefit as well. Then an operator can connect, capture and move on without hunting for a pad under magnification.
Which probes the RT-ZA27 lists
R&S names four probes for this part: RT-ZP10, RTM-ZP10, RT-ZP11 and RT-ZP1X. So start by reading your probe label. Next, confirm the tip style and revision, because the listing names models, not every tip variant.
Straight Rohde & Schwarz RT-ZA27 adapter or angled RT-ZA28
R&S also lists the RT-ZA28, an angled version with the same probe list. Pick the straight model when the space above the test point is open. On the other hand, a closed housing or a stacked board points to the angled part.
Photo and layout notes
The R&S product photo shows two slim metal cylinders, each with a gold-lined socket at one end and short pins at the other. Still, our source lists no footprint or dimensions. Therefore take the land pattern from the R&S documentation, and confirm the pack quantity on your quote.
