Tektronix TIVP1L IsoVu Probe, 1 GHz Isolated Voltage Probe, 10 m Fiber, TekVPI

The Tektronix TIVP1L IsoVu probe keeps 1 GHz bandwidth but adds a 10 m fiber, so the scope can stay well away from the circuit. It is an optically isolated voltage probe for TekVPI scopes, from Lost in HCM.

Description

Sometimes the device under test sits inside a thermal chamber, a shielded cage or a high-power test cell. The scope then has to stay well away. The Tektronix TIVP1L IsoVu probe suits that layout. It is an isolated voltage probe, in other words an optically isolated differential probe, with 1 GHz bandwidth and a long 10 m fiber cable.

What the L suffix means

The L marks the long-fiber version. In the source data, the TIVP1L and the TIVP1 share 1 GHz of bandwidth, and only the fiber differs: 10 m against 2 m. As a result, you keep the full speed while gaining room between the sensor head and the scope.

Planning a long-distance setup

First, map the signal path. The sensor head connects to the circuit, the fiber runs out to the interface, and the interface plugs into a TekVPI scope. Next, route the fiber away from moving parts and sharp bends. Then confirm the scope model and its firmware. Finally, look up the tip, offset and common-mode limits for your test in the current Tektronix manual.

Ratings to read before you order

Differential range depends on the tip. Across supported configurations it spans ±5 V to ±2500 V, and the top value needs a high-attenuation tip. For the family, the manufacturer data lists common-mode voltage up to ±60 kV under its conditions. That figure derates with frequency, so plan around your real signal. TIVPMX10X appears as the standard tip reference, but check what ships in your kit.

Test cells that suit the Tektronix TIVP1L IsoVu probe

EV inverter labs often run hardware inside guarded cages. Likewise, environmental tests put boards in chambers while engineers watch from outside. Power semiconductor teams may also run double-pulse tests behind a barrier. In each case, the long fiber lets the scope stay outside the enclosure.

Getting a quote

Lost in HCM rents and sells the TIVP1L and can arrange service. For instance, rent it for a chamber campaign or a one-off validation run. Buy it if your test cell runs isolated measurements all year. To get a TIVP1L quote from Lost in HCM, describe the scope, the signal bandwidth, both voltage levels and the distance you need to cover. Also browse oscilloscope probes, see tek.com, or contact SMK Vietnam. Follow the manufacturer’s manual and ratings for every Tektronix TIVP1L IsoVu probe setup.

Questions about the TIVP1L

Is the TIVP1L slower than the TIVP1?

No. Both list 1 GHz. The only stated difference is the 10 m fiber.

Which tip comes with it?

Listings name TIVPMX10X as the standard tip reference. Confirm the supplied kit in your quote.

Do I need a special scope?

You need a TekVPI oscilloscope with supported firmware. Give Lost in HCM your model when you ask for a quote.
