Tektronix TICPMM100 Probe Tip, 100X MMCX, ±50 V, 5000 Ω, -40 to +85 °C

The Tektronix TICPMM100 probe tip is a standard-temperature 100X MMCX tip for TICP IsoVu isolated current probes. It handles a ±50 V differential range, presents 5000 Ω || <3 pF, and works from -40 °C to +85 °C.

Description

When the voltage across your shunt runs into tens of volts, a low-ratio tip simply runs out of room. The Tektronix TICPMM100 probe tip solves that by dividing the signal by 100 before it reaches the probe. Within the Tektronix TICP IsoVu isolated current probe range, it serves as the 100X MMCX tip for normal bench temperatures. In short, it links an MMCX test point or shunt to a TICP025, TICP050 or TICP100, after you confirm the full connection setup.

A bench tip for larger shunt voltages

On a normal lab bench, most current work runs near room temperature. So this version skips the extended heat rating and keeps the same 100X range as its ET sibling. It accepts ±50 V differential, with an offset range of ±50 V. Still, the sum of signal and offset may not pass the 50 V peak maximum measurable input.

Parameter TICPMM100
Attenuation and connector 100X, MMCX
Input range / offset ±50 V / ±50 V
Maximum measurable input 50 V peak
Input impedance 5000 Ω || <3 pF
Tip operating temperature -40 °C to +85 °C

TICPMM100 or TICPMM100ET?

Both parts share the 100X ratio, the ±50 V window and the 5000 Ω input. The main difference, however, is heat. This standard Tektronix TICPMM100 probe tip operates from -40 °C to +85 °C. By contrast, the ET model stretches the tip operating range to +125 °C. Therefore, pick the standard tip for bench work and the ET tip when the tip must sit in a hot chamber.

Bench jobs for the Tektronix TICPMM100 probe tip

Engineers reach for a 100X tip when the shunt signal is large. For example, a higher-value shunt in a power supply’s input path can develop several volts or more. Similarly, a measurement point that is not a shunt at all may carry a bigger differential voltage. In both cases, the 100X ratio keeps the waveform inside the probe’s input window. Then you scale the result by the 100X factor and the shunt resistance to read current. As with any isolated setup, follow the manufacturer’s manual and ratings.

TICPMM100 buyer questions

What input impedance does the TICPMM100 present?

The source lists 5000 Ω in parallel with less than 3 pF. That is ten times the 10X tip’s 500 Ω figure.

Can I center a signal with offset?

Yes, the offset range is ±50 V. Even so, signal and offset together must stay within 50 V peak.

What should my quote request include?

Name the TICP probe model, the shunt value, the expected current and waveform, and how you plan to connect. Lost in HCM confirms price, condition and availability for each request.
