Description
Phones, smart watches and earbuds hold their frames together with screws smaller than a grain of rice. At that size, a wrist twist too far strips the thread or cracks a boss. The Snap-on TQSSI055FUAC torque driver lets process engineers measure torque at that very low level. It is a stubby Torqometer dial driver with a follow-up needle, and its name says it comes with a calibration certificate.

How small is 0.055 N·m?
Snap-on lists the TQSSI055FUA at a full scale of 0.055 N·m, read in 0.001 N·m steps. That equals 5.5 N·cm, or about 7.8 inch-ounces. In other words, the whole dial covers less than half an inch-pound. So the Snap-on TQSSI055FUAC torque driver belongs on a micro-assembly bench, not on a general toolboard.
Micro screw jobs for the Snap-on TQSSI055FUAC torque driver
- Setting torque targets for frame and shield screws during a new model build.
- Checking that a power screwdriver still delivers its setting at the start of a shift.
- Studying the torque it takes to strip a thread in a plastic or magnesium boss.
- Auditing screws on returned units during failure analysis.
For each task, the second needle holds the highest value. As a result, the operator can lift the tool, check the dial under a magnifier and log the reading.
Catalog data and the double asterisk
| Item | TQSSI055FUA |
|---|---|
| Body | Stubby, 5-1/4 in long |
| Full scale | 0.055 N·m |
| Increments | 0.001 N·m |
| Drive | 1/4 in (Lost in HCM category) |
| Case | PB47 storage case |
Snap-on prints these values in its US/Newton Meter driver table in catalog CAT1500i. Lost in HCM’s category for it ends in two asterisks. In that table, the double asterisk notes that Precise 1% models are available on special order. Also, the table says ANSI B107.300 applies to these drivers.
Certificate and accuracy
Snap-on’s catalog says a C at the end of the stock number orders a certificate of calibration. Lost in HCM’s title for the TQSSI055FUAC also says it comes with one. The standard grade holds within 2% of reading from 20% of full scale upward, so from about 0.011 N·m. Therefore set targets in the upper part of the dial for the best reading.
Bench care at micro torque
Use sharp, correctly sized micro bits, because a worn tip cams out before the peak. Also keep the driver vertical and press lightly. Store it in its PB47 case, away from screwdriver vibration and dropped parts. Then plan the next calibration on your own cycle.

Micro assembly FAQ
Can I use the TQSSI055FUAC as a production screwdriver?
It works better as a check and setup tool. Production lines usually run powered drivers, while this dial confirms their output.
Who issues the calibration certificate?
The source does not say. Ask Lost in HCM to describe the certificate before you order.
Is there a larger size in the same family?
Yes. Snap-on’s table also lists stubby follow-up sizes at 0.110, 0.70 and 1.35 N·m.
