Description

Plastic bosses, thin sheet threads and tiny sensor screws give no warning before they strip. One extra quarter turn is enough. The Snap-on QDRIVER1P torque screwdriver guards against that with a preset clutch at the very low end of the scale. Snap-on lists its range as 6 to 32 in-oz, which equals 4 to 22 N·cm.

Why the lowest range matters

A driver works best when the target sits well inside its range. So a 15 in-oz screw belongs on the QDRIVER1P, not on a larger model near the bottom of its scale. Also, Snap-on quotes the ±6% accuracy from 20% to 100% of full scale. On a 32 in-oz driver, that band starts at about 6.4 in-oz.

These points come from the Snap-on Industrial catalog and the Snap-on torque brochure.

Assemblies that need a light touch

Typical QDRIVER1P jobs include meter and display covers, small connector screws and sensor housings. Its listing also names oil and gas, power and renewable energy work. For instance, a technician can close a transmitter terminal cover without crushing the gasket. Because the tool is short, it also fits inside crowded junction boxes.

The cam-over clutch in plain terms

Inside the QDRIVER1P handle, a clutch transmits torque until it reaches the setting. Then it slips and free-wheels, so extra effort no longer reaches the screw. As a result, two operators with different grip strength get the same result.

Building a set of preset drivers

Many plants keep one driver per spec. For example, mark each QDRIVER1P with its value and a colored tag, and store it in a shadow board. Next, add the QDRIVER2P for 10-100 in-oz and the QDRIVER3P for 1.5-15 in-lb where needed.

Ordering and checking

Snap-on asks buyers to state the torque value at order time, and it does not supply a calibration certificate with these drivers. Therefore, plan a check on your own torque tester before first use. SMK Vietnam lists the QDRIVER1P for our partner Lost in HCM, who supplies it and gives the price. Please request a quote from Lost in HCM and include your target value.
