Description

Printer, copier and scanner plants in northern Vietnam drive thousands of small screws into plastic frames every hour. Most of those screws need only light torque, and a plastic boss forgives very little. The Snap-on TQSSC1FUAC torque driver helps line engineers measure that light work. It is a short-bodied Torqometer dial driver that reads both U.S. and metric units, with a follow-up needle. The Lost in HCM listing names a chart too.

Where the TQSSC1FUA sits in its family

Snap-on builds four stubby follow-up drivers with combined U.S./metric dials. The TQSSC1FUA is the lightest of them, so choose it when your targets sit low.

Stubby model Full scale Increments
TQSSC1FUA 17 kg·cm / 15 in-lb 0.5 kg·cm / 0.5 in-lb
TQSSC2.5FUA 35 kg·cm / 30 in-lb 1 kg·cm / 1 in-lb
TQSSC4FUA 56 kg·cm / 50 in-lb 2 kg·cm / 2 in-lb
TQSSC6FUA 90 kg·cm / 75 in-lb 3 kg·cm / 5 in-lb

All four stubby bodies measure 5-1/4 inches, and each comes in a PB47 storage case. These values come from the US/Metric driver table in Snap-on’s CAT1500i catalog. That table also says a C at the end of a stock number orders the certified version. So the Snap-on TQSSC1FUAC torque driver is the C form of the TQSSC1FUA.

Plastic housings and the Snap-on TQSSC1FUAC torque driver

Self-tapping screws in plastic have a narrow window between seated and stripped. For example, a process engineer can drive test screws and note where the thread starts to give way. Then the line can set its powered drivers well below that point. Because the follow-up needle holds the peak, each reading stays on the dial until the engineer resets it.

Getting a good reading at the low end

Snap-on rates the standard grade within 2% of reading from 20% of full scale upward. On the TQSSC1FUAC, that band begins at 3 in-lb, or about 3.4 kg·cm. Therefore keep targets between that point and full scale. In addition, the short body keeps your hand close to the screw, so the tool wobbles less.

Looking after a light-range driver

Reset the follow-up needle before each screw, and turn smoothly rather than in jerks. Also never force the dial past 15 in-lb, because Snap-on warns against exceeding the rated torque. After each shift, return the driver to its PB47 case. Then send it for calibration on the cycle your quality plan sets.

Light-screw FAQ

Does the TQSSC1FUAC read in N·m?

No. It reads kg·cm and in-lb. For N·m, multiply a kg·cm value by about 0.098.

Is there a full-length version?

Yes. Snap-on lists the TQSC1FUA, which shares the same scale in a 7-3/4 inch body.

What does with Chart mean here?

Our source leaves that open. Since the catalog links the C suffix to a certificate, confirm the documents with Lost in HCM.
