Description
An inspector checking screws on an avionics tray cannot always watch a dial while turning. The Snap-on TQS2.5FUA torque driver removes that problem. Its follow-up dial keeps the highest value on the face after the hand lets go, up to 30 in-lb. So the reading waits until the inspector can see it, write it down and reset.

Two needles, one held result
A follow-up Torqometer has two needles. The main needle tracks torque as you apply it, and it pushes a second pointer ahead of it. When you release, the main needle returns, yet the second pointer stays at the peak. Then you reset that pointer to zero before the next screw, following the Snap-on instructions.
Where a held 30 in-lb reading pays off
- Final inspection of cover and bracket screws on avionics and defense electronics.
- Audit checks on screws that sit behind a panel edge, out of sight of the dial.
- First-article reports, where the value goes into a form.
- Process trials that compare operators against one target.
In each case, the drawing or inspection plan gives the value and the method.
The Snap-on TQS2.5FUA torque driver on paper
| Spec | TQS2.5FUA |
|---|---|
| Dial type | U.S. reading, follow-up (2 needles) |
| Range | 480 in-oz / 30 in-lb |
| Increments | 12 in-oz / 1 in-lb |
| Length | 7-3/4 in, standard |
| Storage | PB47 case |
Thirty in-lb is about 3.4 N·m. Since the 2% guarantee begins at 20% of full scale, aim for values between 6 and 30 in-lb.
Picking the 30 in-lb follow-up over nearby sizes
If most targets sit under 24 in-lb, the TQS2FUA reads in finer 1/2 in-lb steps. On the other hand, the TQS4FUA covers 50 in-lb when values climb. For deep housings, the stubby TQSS2.5FUA keeps this 30 in-lb follow-up dial on a 5-1/4 inch body. Meanwhile, the TQS2.5A is the basic twin for live reading only.
Inspector questions on the TQS2.5FUA
Why choose the Snap-on TQS2.5FUA torque driver for audits?
Because the peak stays on the dial, the inspector reads it after the turn instead of during it.
Does the TQS2.5FUA read in both directions?
Yes. Snap-on gives the Torqometer accuracy for clockwise and counterclockwise use.
What happens if we forget to reset the pointer?
The next reading starts from the old peak, so a lower value will not show. Make the reset part of each step.
