Description
Watch boutiques and service centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi open cases every day for batteries, gaskets and pressure tests. Case-back and bracelet screws there are tiny, and a slip can scar a polished case. The Snap-on TQS012FUAC torque driver helps a watchmaker apply and record a very light torque. Its dial reads in inch-ounces, and a second needle keeps the peak.

Why inch-ounces suit a watch bench
Most hand tools read far too high for watch work. By contrast, the TQS012FUAC tops out at 24 in-oz, which is only 1.5 in-lb or about 0.17 N·m. So each 1/2 in-oz step stays easy to read on the dial. As a result, a watchmaker can see the gap between snug and too tight.

Snap-on prints this row in the US Reading driver chart on page 336 of catalog CAT1500i. That chart says its drivers come without a certificate, yet a C on the stock number orders the certificate version. Hence the TQS012FUAC is the C form of the TQS012FUA. Ask Lost in HCM what the chart in its title covers.
Bench jobs for the Snap-on TQS012FUAC torque driver
- Case-back screws after a battery or gasket change.
- Bracelet and clasp screws during sizing.
- Strap bar and lug screws on sports models.
- Small screws in clocks or gauges, where the brand gives a value.
Watch brands publish their own torque figures, while many screws carry no figure at all. Therefore follow the service guide, and use the dial to confirm a value rather than guess one.
Standard length or stubby?
The Snap-on TQS012FUAC torque driver is the standard body. Snap-on also lists a stubby follow-up twin, the TQSS012FUA, at 5-1/4 inches with the same scale. On an open bench, the longer body gives a steadier grip. However, the stubby fits better inside a crowded case holder or under a loupe stand.
Accuracy band of the Snap-on TQS012FUAC torque driver
Lost in HCM files this driver under US Reading Standard/2% Accuracy. Snap-on defines that grade as within 2% of reading from 20% of full scale upward. So on this dial the band begins at 4.8 in-oz.
Care on a clean bench
Keep the TQS012FUAC in its PB47 case, away from cleaning fluids and ultrasonic baths. Also bring the second needle back to zero before every screw. Turn slowly as the screw seats, because a flick sends the needle past the true value. Then plan recalibration on the cycle your workshop sets.

Watchmaker FAQ for the TQS012FUAC
Does it fit standard watch screwdriver blades?
The catalog lists it in the 1/4 in drive family but does not describe the bit interface. Ask Lost in HCM which adapters suit your blades.
Can it test a crown or a pusher?
No. It measures turning torque on screws. Water resistance still needs a pressure tester.
How light is 24 in-oz?
About 0.17 N·m. That is a very light load, so hold the driver upright and turn with two fingers.
