Description
Older Japanese and Korean machine manuals often give bolt values in kg·m. Converting each one by hand invites mistakes on site. The Snap-on TQRM80 torque wrench reads in kg·m directly, so the number on the drawing is the number you set. It is a 3/4″ drive TQ series click-type wrench with a detachable ratchet head.

Who still works in kg·m
Kilogram-meters appear in many service manuals for presses, injection molding machines, cranes and generators. Plants in Vietnam that run that equipment for decades keep the original specs. So a metric kg·m wrench such as the TQRM80 saves a step and removes a source of error. In addition, the handle carries a conversion scale for other units.
What Snap-on lists for the TQRM80C
The current CAT1500i catalog shows the TQRM80C, the latest version of this model. Treat these figures as a guide, and confirm them for the unit you order.
| Drive | 3/4 in |
| Head | Detachable ratchet, 32 teeth, 11° arc |
| Range | 26-80 kg·m |
| Increments | 2.0 kg·m |
| Length | 48 in |
| Head width / depth | 2-3/8 in / 1-1/4 in |
| Case / repair kit | PB39 / RKRQC4 |
Converting kg·m settings
One kg·m equals about 9.81 N·m or 7.23 ft-lb. Therefore 26-80 kg·m works out to roughly 255-785 N·m, or 188-579 ft-lb.
How the Snap-on TQRM80 torque wrench behaves in use
TQ series wrenches use a split-beam element rather than a heavy coil spring. As a result, they have fewer moving parts and less wear. You set the value with a thumb screw, while a guard stops it from drifting. However, the wrench measures clockwise only. Snap-on also warns users not to break fasteners loose with it.
Long-wrench jobs it suits
- Foundation and anchor bolts on presses and large pumps, where the TQRM80’s long handle helps.
- Track, slewing ring and boom bolts on construction equipment.
- Flange and coupling bolts on turbines and gensets.

TQRM80 FAQ
Is the TQRM80 the same as the TQRM80C?
Snap-on’s current catalog lists the TQRM80C. The suffix marks a version, so ask Lost in HCM to confirm the exact model and range they supply.
How do I turn a kg·m value into N·m?
Multiply by 9.81. For example, 50 kg·m is about 490 N·m.
Can it tighten left-hand threads?
No. Snap-on builds the TQ series for clockwise torque only, and the wrench is not reversible.
