Description
Workshops that torque the same wheel nuts or mounting bolts all day want a wrench that sets fast and holds its value. The Snap-on TQR250E torque wrench fits that need. It belongs to Snap-on’s TQ series, and it pairs a 1/2 inch sealed ratchet head with a split-beam click mechanism.

Split beam instead of a coil spring
Many click wrenches rely on a heavy coil spring inside the tube. In contrast, the TQR250E uses a split-beam measuring element. Snap-on says this design cuts the number of moving parts, so the TQR250E has less friction and wear inside. As a result, it suits shops that put a lot of cycles on one wrench.
Thumb screw setting with a guard
Instead of a twisting micrometer handle, the TQR250E uses a thumb screw. Snap-on notes that this is faster than cycling a micrometer-style wrench. The value shows in a window, and a guard keeps the setting from moving by accident. Also, a conversion table on the handle gives N·m values, which helps when the manual comes from Japan, Korea or Europe.

TQR250E or QD3R250A?
Both wrenches use a 1/2 inch ratchet head and top out at 250 ft-lb. However, the TQR250E starts lower, at 40 ft-lb, and it sets in 5 ft-lb steps. The QD3R250A starts at 50 ft-lb, sets in 1 ft-lb steps and has an 80-tooth head. So pick the TQR250E for fast, repeated settings, and choose the QD for fine settings or short swing space.
Built for oily workshop floors
The cushion grip on the TQR250E resists most automotive fluids, and a sealed neck keeps dust and grit away from the mechanism. Even so, wipe it down at the end of each shift and return it to its case.

TQR250E questions
Can the TQR250E tighten in reverse?
No. The TQ series measures clockwise torque only, so you cannot flip the TQR250E for reverse work.
Does it show N·m?
The scale reads in ft-lb. However, a conversion table on the handle lists the N·m values.
What colors does Snap-on offer?
Snap-on lists the TQR250E in red only.
