Description
Quality teams often keep a separate set of wrenches for audits and spot checks. However, that set should never drift into daily production use. The Snap-on TQFR250EDKT torque wrench helps keep it apart, because its Dark Titanium finish looks nothing like a red shop pool. It is a 1/2″ drive TQ series flex-head click wrench for 40 to 250 ft-lb.

A distinct finish for audit and QA sets
When an auditor re-checks a joint, the tool must be trusted and easy to trace. A dark, non-red handle tells everyone on the floor that the TQFR250EDKT belongs to QA. Also, keeping it out of daily use slows wear on the mechanism. For example, a quality engineer can carry it for first-article checks or customer audits.
Snap-on TQFR250EDKT torque wrench features
Under the finish, this model follows the TQFR250E design. In addition, its split-beam element replaces the heavy coil spring of many click wrenches. So there are fewer moving parts and less friction. The ratchet head flexes up to 15°, and the scale reads in 5 ft-lb steps. Snap-on rates the line within ±4% of the clockwise setting.
Range planning for audits
Audit checks work best away from the ends of the scale. Snap-on calibrates from 20% of full scale, which is 50 ft-lb on this wrench. So if a joint sits below 50 ft-lb, check it with a 3/8″ TQ model instead of the TQFR250EDKT.
Records for the TQFR250EDKT
First, log the serial number and calibration due date in your gauge system. Then note each audit the wrench supports, so results trace back to a known tool. Snap-on’s torque brochure also recommends recalibration at least every six months.

Snap-on TQFR250EDKT torque wrench FAQ
What does DKT stand for?
Lost in HCM lists the TQFR250EDKT as the Dark Titanium version. Snap-on also uses the Dark Titanium name on other premium hand tools.
Does the finish affect the reading?
No. The split-beam mechanism sets the click on the TQFR250EDKT, not the handle color.
Should an audit wrench also go on the line?
Ideally not. Keeping the TQFR250EDKT for audits protects it from daily wear and keeps its record clean.
