Description
Every workshop needs one mid-range wrench that handles most of the daily list. The Snap-on TQFR100C torque wrench fills that role for 3/8″ work. It is the standard red model in the TQ flex-head family, and it sets from 20 to 100 ft-lb.

Why the TQFR100C makes a good first wrench
Plenty of torque specs on cars, vans and plant machinery fall between 20 and 100 ft-lb. So one tool can cover caliper brackets, engine covers, pump feet and many bracket bolts. The scale moves in 2 ft-lb steps, which keeps most targets on a printed mark. Also, Snap-on rates it at ±4% clockwise from 20% to 100% of full scale. Because the scale starts at 20 ft-lb, every mark on the TQFR100C sits inside that band.

Inside the TQ design
Most click wrenches compress a heavy coil spring. In contrast, the TQFR100C relies on a split-beam measuring element, so fewer parts rub and wear. You turn a thumb screw to set the value, and then a guard keeps it from drifting. A sealed neck and sealed head also keep grit out of the mechanism. The scale reads in ft-lb, while the handle carries a conversion table to N·m.
Points to know before buying the TQFR100C
- It measures clockwise torque only, so it cannot serve left-hand threads.
- Do not use it to free a seized fastener, since that work belongs to a breaker bar.
- Snap-on also sells this wrench in orange, green and Hi-Viz finishes.
