Description
Flange joints on pumps, tanks and pipe runs leak when bolt loads are uneven. The Snap-on TEXC602TLA Torqometer helps fitters reach even loads in loud pump rooms. It is a T-handle dial head with U.S. and metric scales and a signal light. So the crew gets a visual cue as well as a number on the dial.

How a T-handle Torqometer works
Unlike a long-arm dial wrench, the TEXC602TLA is a compact head. It has a female square input on top and a male square output below. A T bar or extension handle fits the input, while the socket goes on the output. With a T bar in place, the fitter can pull with both hands and keep the head square to the bolt. Snap-on lists the bars and handles as options, so check what ships with your unit.
Specs of the Snap-on TEXC602TLA Torqometer
| Item | TEXC602TLA |
|---|---|
| Input drive (female square) | 3/4 in |
| Output drive (male square) | 3/4 in |
| U.S. scale | 600 ft-lb, 20 ft-lb steps |
| Metric scale | 80 kg·m, 2 kg·m steps |
| Indicator | Dial plus signal light |
These figures come from the T-handle table in Snap-on’s industrial catalog CAT1500i. In addition, Snap-on’s 2005 Torqometer listing shows the same 600 ft-lb capacity and 3/4-inch drives.
Flange bolting with a light cue
Pump rooms and compressor halls are noisy, and fitters often wear ear muffs and thick gloves. In that setting, a faint click is easy to miss. The TEXC602TLA instead shows a light at the preset value, so the fitter sees when to stop. For example, a crew can set the first-pass target, work the bolt pattern, and then raise the target for the final pass. Meanwhile, the dial on the Snap-on TEXC602TLA Torqometer shows the real value for the job sheet.
Where the 2% grade applies
Lost in HCM files this head under Combination US/Metric Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy. Snap-on’s Torqometer tables put that grade at within 2% of reading from 20% of full scale to full scale, clockwise and counterclockwise. On the 600 ft-lb TEXC602TLA, the band starts near 120 ft-lb. Therefore choose it when your flange targets sit well above that point.
Certificate, care and safe use
Snap-on’s catalog notes that the stock numbers in this table ship without a certificate of calibration. So tell Lost in HCM early if your quality plan needs one. Also keep the TEXC602TLA in its case, check that the needle rests at zero, and test the lamp before each job. Never use the Torqometer to break seized bolts loose, because Snap-on warns against it.

TEXC602TLA flange-work FAQ
Can I fit a longer handle to the TEXC602TLA?
Snap-on lists optional T bars and extension handles for the T-handle range. Ask Lost in HCM which one fits the 3/4-inch input.
Does the base TEXC602TLA come with a calibration certificate?
Not according to Snap-on’s catalog. The certified version adds a C to the stock number, so request that code if your plant needs it.
Which tightening pattern should I follow on a flange?
Follow the sequence your engineers or the gasket maker specify, such as a cross pattern in several passes. The wrench only measures; the procedure controls the joint.
