Description
Rooftop solar now covers factory roofs in Binh Duong, Long An and Bac Ninh. Each array holds thousands of module clamps and rail bolts. Yet loose ones can work free in storm season. The Snap-on TESI30 Torqometer lets installers and O&M crews tighten and spot-check them on a clear newton meter dial. Also, at under ten inches long, it fits a harness pouch.

Fasteners a 30 N·m dial covers on a PV roof
Snap-on’s Standard 2% grade applies from 20% of full scale upward, so this dial works best from 6 N·m to 30 N·m. Across a solar site, that window covers jobs such as:
- Mid and end clamps that hold modules to the rails.
- Rail splice bolts, plus L-foot bolts on metal roof sheeting.
- DC and AC terminal screws on string inverters, where the label allows a socket.
- Combiner box glands as well as earthing lug bolts.
Racking and inverter makers each publish their own values. So read the installation manual and build the job card from it.
Snap-on TESI30 Torqometer at a glance
- A 3/8 inch square drive for standard sockets.
- 30 N·m full scale, so each mark equals 1 N·m.
- 9-29/32 inches long and 2-11/16 inches wide.
- A 1-1/4 inch head depth, measured without the drive.
- PB9 storage case.
Snap-on prints these numbers in the newton meter Torqometer table of catalog CAT1500i. Two sister versions share that row: the TESI30FU follow-up and the TESI30L signal model.
Spot checks during O&M visits
Over a few seasons, however, heat cycles can relax clamp bolts. During a routine visit, the technician uses the Snap-on TESI30 Torqometer to pull a sample of clamps to the set value. Any clamp that turns early stands out, because the needle moves live. Then the crew retightens the loose ones and logs the rows they checked.
Heat, sun and the PB9 case
Snap-on gives its Torqometer line an operating range of 0 to 100 °F, roughly -18 to 38 °C. Yet a metal roof at noon runs far hotter. Therefore, keep the TESI30 in its PB9 case in the shade, and schedule torque checks for early morning. Also stay within 30 N·m, and never use the dial to free a seized bolt.
Supply of the Snap-on TESI30 Torqometer
Lost in HCM supplies this wrench to solar EPCs, O&M firms and factory energy teams on behalf of SMK Vietnam. Give the site name and quantity when you request a quote from Lost in HCM. Questions from solar crews
Can I take the TESI30 up a ladder safely?
Yes, if you tether it. Clip a lanyard to the handle, away from the dial, and leave the case on the roof.
Will the dial read on reverse-thread fittings?
Yes. Snap-on states its 2% rating for clockwise and counterclockwise use.
What if a clamp spec is 8 N·m?
That sits inside the 6 to 30 N·m band, so the TESI30 handles it. For values under 6 N·m, a TESI10 or TESI5 reads more clearly.
