Description
Open-pit coal mines around Cam Pha and Ha Long run haul trucks, dozers and big excavators in shifts. When a machine comes into the pit workshop, every hour of downtime costs output. The Snap-on TESI1360FU Torqometer helps fitters torque heavy joints and still read the result once the pull ends. It carries a 1 inch drive and a newton meter dial to 1,360 N·m.

How two needles help under a machine
Snap-on’s Follow-up design uses two separate needles. One shows the targeted torque, while the other shows the torque achieved. On a track frame or under a truck body, the fitter often cannot see the dial during the pull. So the fitter finishes the stroke, steps back and reads where the achieved needle stopped. Then that value goes straight onto the job card.
Mine workshop joints for the Snap-on TESI1360FU Torqometer
Under Snap-on’s Standard 2% grade, the useful band starts at 20% of full scale. That puts this dial at 272 N·m to 1,360 N·m. In a pit workshop, it suits jobs such as:
- Track shoe and track roller bolts on dozers and excavators.
- Bucket tooth adapter and cutting edge bolts, where the maker gives a torque.
- Final drive and sprocket bolts during component change-outs.
- Engine mount and frame cross-member bolts on haul trucks.
Wheel nuts on large haul trucks often exceed this scale or need a multiplier. Check the OEM manual first.

Snap-on prints these values in the Newton Meter Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy table on page 334 of catalog CAT1500i. At about 1.7 meters, the Snap-on TESI1360FU Torqometer needs room for a full, even pull.
Coal dust and rough handling
Fine coal dust gets into everything in a pit workshop. Therefore, wipe the dial guard and crystal after every job, and store the TESI1360FU in a closed cabinet. Also carry it by the body, not the dial. In addition, return the achieved needle to zero before each new bolt, so an old reading never reaches the log. Finally, follow Snap-on’s warnings: stay within rated torque, never break bolts loose with it, and plan periodic recalibration.

Pit workshop FAQ
Is the TESI1360FU a better audit tool than the Basic TESI1360?
For audits, often yes. The achieved needle keeps the reading after the pull, while the Basic model has a single needle.
Is there an ft-lb scale on the dial?
No, the dial reads N·m only. As a guide, 1,360 N·m is close to 1,000 ft-lb.
How many people does it take to use?
One fitter can pull it on most joints, but a second person helps steady a 1.7 meter tool. Plan for that on slopes or at height.
