Description
Plant fitters rarely meet the same fastener twice in a shift. A pump base needs a socket, while a hose nut beside it needs an open-end head. The Snap-on TECH3X250 torque wrench covers both, because its front end takes swappable X-shank heads. In addition, this electronic Techwrench handle tops out at 250 ft-lb.

The J, Y, X and Z shank system
Snap-on sorts its interchangeable heads by shank diameter. So the letter in the model tells you which heads fit. The catalog uses four sizes:
- J: 0.425 inch, for the lightest handles.
- Y: 0.560 inch, for mid-range work.
- X: 0.735 inch, the size this handle takes.
- Z: 0.990 inch, for the heaviest handles.
A head with another shank will not seat in this receiver. Standard X heads also place the fastener 4.50 inches from the retaining pin. If you plan to use a longer or offset head, ask Lost in HCM how to correct the setting.
Plan the heads before you order
Snap-on sells the handle and each head under separate part numbers. It even quotes the 23-3/4 inch handle length without a head fitted. So build a short list first: a ratchet head for sockets, open-end heads for tube nuts, and perhaps a box-end head for recessed bolts. If your shop already runs X-shank click bodies, ask whether those heads can serve this handle too. SMK Vietnam lists several such bodies in the same category.
Watch the head rating
Each head carries its own maximum working torque. For example, Snap-on rates its X-shank box-end heads at 240 ft-lb. That sits just under the top of the handle, so check the head before you set a target near 250 ft-lb.

Where this handle earns its place
- Motor, pump and gearbox base bolts in plant rooms.
- Conveyor drive and bearing housing bolts.
- Hydraulic tube nuts, using an open-end X head.
- Flange bolts on process piping, within the head rating.
As a rule, keep daily targets at 50 ft-lb or more. That is 20% of full scale, where the catalog accuracy figure starts.

TECH3X250 buyer questions
What is the lowest setting?
The Lost in HCM title and Snap-on’s catalog give different minimums. So we leave it out here, and Lost in HCM can confirm it in writing.
Will Y-shank heads fit?
No. This handle only accepts X-shank heads, which measure 0.735 inch across the shank.
Does the quote include heads?
The partner listing is silent on heads. So name the ones you need, and Lost in HCM can price them with the handle.
