Description
Small screws tend to fail without warning. Too little torque lets a sensor drift, while too much strips a thread in an aluminum housing. The Snap-on TECH1R240 torque wrench helps on that fine work. It is a 1/4-inch drive electronic Techwrench with a sealed fixed ratchet. Its display reads up to 240 in-lb, which equals 20 ft-lb or 27.12 N·m.

Why in-lb matters on small joints
Many small fastener specs use in-lb or N·m rather than ft-lb. The TECH1R240 switches between all three units, so you match the drawing without a conversion. For example, a 45 in-lb spec reads as 45 on the screen. That removes a common source of error on electronics and appliance lines.

A compact head for crowded parts
The 72-tooth ratchet needs only a 5° swing to pick up the next tooth. In addition, the head measures just 7/16 inch deep. So the TECH1R240 fits between connectors, brackets and cable trays.
Where the accuracy band starts
Snap-on rates this ratchet-head model at 2% clockwise and 3% counterclockwise from 20% to 100% of full scale. On a 240 in-lb wrench, that band begins at 48 in-lb. Between 10% and 19%, the rating widens to 4% and 6%. Therefore, keep critical targets on the TECH1R240 above 48 in-lb. For lighter specs, a torque screwdriver suits better.
Typical uses for the Snap-on TECH1R240 torque wrench
- Sensor, encoder and connector housings.
- Small brake, fuel and hydraulic fittings.
- Valve covers and timing covers on small engines.
- Fixture and jig screws on assembly lines.
Unlike Snap-on’s TechAngle wrenches, this Techwrench has no angle mode. Instead, it offers preset, track and peak hold, which covers most small-fastener work.
Daily care of the Snap-on TECH1R240 torque wrench
Store the TECH1R240 in its PBTECH2 case, and keep it away from cleaning solvents. Take out the AA cells before a long break. Also set a recalibration interval, because Snap-on notes that periodic recalibration keeps a torque wrench accurate.

Small-fastener FAQ
Can the TECH1R240 read in N·m?
Yes. It switches between N·m, ft-lb and in-lb.
Does it have an angle mode?
No. Techwrench models do not measure angle. Snap-on’s TechAngle wrenches add that feature.
What if my spec goes above 20 ft-lb?
Then move up to a 3/8-inch model such as the TECH2R100, which reaches 100 ft-lb.
