Description
Poultry plants in southern Vietnam process birds on fast overhead shackle lines. Pluckers, eviscerators, chillers and conveyors also run through long shifts and hard washdowns. As a result, their drive and frame bolts need a steady torque check. The Snap-on TEC100L torque wrench reads ft-lb and kg·m, and a lamp flashes when the pull reaches the target.

Line points for the Snap-on TEC100L torque wrench
- Drive sprocket and take-up bracket bolts on overhead shackle lines.
- Motor and gearbox mount bolts on pluckers and scalders.
- Auger bearing and trough bolts on spin chillers.
- Frame and guard bolts on conveyors and packing tables.
In addition, each machine maker prints its own values, and stainless bolts may call for a set lube. So take the figure from the manual, then check that it sits inside the TEC100L dial.

Snap-on prints this row in its Combination US/Metric Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy table. The row also names a basic TEC100 and a follow-up TEC100FU at the same size. Note, however, that the metric side reads kilogram-force meters rather than newton meters. This listing is the plain TEC100L, and its title names no certificate.
Why a lamp helps on a wet kill floor
Washdown leaves water and steam in the air, and lights glare off stainless steel. So a fine dial scale can be hard to read from an awkward angle. Snap-on’s Signal models fix that with a built-in light that flashes at the targeted torque. Then the fitter stops the pull on the flash and reads the TEC100L needle for the log.
Choosing values on the Snap-on TEC100L torque wrench
Lost in HCM files the TEC100L under Combination US/Metric Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy. Snap-on defines Standard as within 2% of reading, from 20% of full scale to full scale. On this dial, the band therefore starts at 20 ft-lb or 2.8 kg·m. For smaller cover screws on sensors and scales, choose a lighter dial from the same family.
Hygiene and care for the TEC100L
Keep the TEC100L out of the product zone, and follow the plant’s tool control rules. Also dry it after each job, since Snap-on gives no water rating for the dial. Then store it in its PBR5 case in the workshop, and never use it to break a seized bolt loose. Finally, plan periodic recalibration, because Snap-on says the dial needs it to stay accurate.
Order the Snap-on TEC100L torque wrench
Poultry processors and food machine builders can source this wrench from Lost in HCM, the SMK Vietnam partner. Per the Snap-on catalog, adding a C to the stock number orders the certificate of calibration version, TEC100LC. To price either code, request a quote from Lost in HCM. Poultry plant FAQ for the TEC100L
Does the TEC100L read newton meters?
No. Its two scales are ft-lb and kg·m. Multiply ft-lb by about 1.356, or kg·m by about 9.81, to get N·m.
Can the wrench go through a washdown?
No, so keep it out of the spray. Snap-on rates Torqometer dial wrenches for 0 to 100 °F and gives no water rating.
Is there a two-needle version?
Yes. The same catalog row lists the TEC100FU follow-up model, which holds the torque achieved on a second needle.
