Description
Vietnam builds millions of motorcycles and scooters each year, and every one carries bolts with a set torque. Engine covers, brake calipers, footrest brackets and handlebar clamps all fall in a modest range. The Snap-on TE51FFUC torque wrench measures that range on a dial with a follow-up needle. It is a U.S.-reading Torqometer with a 1/2-inch drive, and Lost in HCM lists it with a chart.

Two-wheeler audits with the Snap-on TE51FFUC torque wrench
Assembly lines run nutrunners and click wrenches, so QA needs a separate tool to check their work. An auditor picks a finished bike, sets the wrench on a bolt and turns it slowly. Then the auditor watches for the point where the bolt starts to move again. Because the follow-up needle stays at the highest value, the reading is there to record once the auditor lets go.
Catalog numbers for the TE51FFU
| Item | TE51FFU |
|---|---|
| Square drive | 1/2 in |
| Full scale | 50 ft-lb |
| Increments | 1 ft-lb |
| Length | 15 in |
| Head width / depth | 2-11/16 in / 1-5/16 in |
Snap-on lists these values in the US Reading dial table of catalog CAT1500i. The same page says certificate of calibration models add a C suffix to the stock number. That makes the TE51FFUC the C form of the TE51FFU.
Foot-pounds or inch-pounds?
The TE51FFU shares its 1/2-inch frame and 15-inch length with the TE51FU. However, the two dials read in different units. The TE51FFU shows foot-pounds in 1 ft-lb steps, while the TE51FU shows inch-pounds. So pick the Snap-on TE51FFUC torque wrench when your service manual and control plan list values in ft-lb. That way, nobody has to convert at the line.
Built for daily handling
Snap-on gives its dial wrenches welded steel bodies with a bright nickel-chrome finish. A heat-treated guard also protects the dial crystal from knocks. Inside, a torsion bar made from aircraft-quality alloy steel does the measuring. In addition, the catalog rates these wrenches for use from 0 to 100 °F, or about -18 to 38 °C.
Range and routine for the TE51FFUC
Snap-on’s standard grade holds within 2% of reading from 20% of full scale to full scale. On a 50 ft-lb dial, that band starts at 10 ft-lb. Therefore it suits mid-size chassis bolts better than tiny cover screws. Also reset the second needle before each check, and pull at a steady pace. Then store the wrench on a rack or in a drawer, never under heavy parts.

Motorcycle QA questions
What is 50 ft-lb in N·m?
About 68 N·m. So the TE51FFUC covers many chassis bolts on small and mid-size bikes.
Is the TE51FFUC a click wrench?
No. It has no clutch or click. Instead, it shows the torque on a dial as you pull.
Does the chart version include a certificate?
The catalog ties the C suffix to a certificate of calibration. Lost in HCM’s title says with Chart, so confirm the paperwork when you order.
