Description
Urea and ammonia plants in Vietnam, such as those at Phu My and Ca Mau, stop for planned turnarounds. In a few weeks, crews open compressors, pumps and granulators, then close them again to spec. The Snap-on TE2003FUC Torqometer takes on the heaviest of those bolts. It is a 1-inch drive dial wrench with two needles and a 2,000 ft-lb scale.

Turnaround joints for the TE2003FUC
- Compressor and turbine baseplate hold-down bolts, where the OEM gives a value.
- Large pump casing and base bolts.
- Granulator, crusher and conveyor drive gearbox bolts.
- Bucket elevator head and screw conveyor bearing bolts.
Process flanges on high-pressure loops follow the plant’s bolting procedure, which may call for tensioners. So the TE2003FUC fits rotating and bulk-handling joints with a printed ft-lb value.

The row above comes from Snap-on’s US Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy table. That page says certificate of calibration models add a C suffix. The TE2003FUC is therefore that C version of the TE2003FU. Lost in HCM titles it with Chart, so ask what papers come with it.
Follow-up needles for a crowded schedule
Turnaround crews work in shifts, and each joint needs a record before handover. The Snap-on TE2003FUC Torqometer shows the targeted torque on one needle and the torque achieved on the other. So the reading survives after the fitter lets go. A supervisor can then confirm it before signing the job card.
Choosing the Snap-on TE2003FUC Torqometer or a 1-1/2 inch model
Snap-on also lists a TE2005FU with the same 2,000 ft-lb scale on a 1-1/2 inch drive. The TE2003FUC suits plants whose big sockets have 1 inch squares. Its head depth of 2-1/8 inches is also a little slimmer, against 2-3/8 inches on the larger drive. So pick the drive that matches your socket set.
Accuracy band and care
Lost in HCM lists this wrench under US Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy. Snap-on’s Standard grade means within 2% of reading from 20% of full scale to full scale, so this band starts at 400 ft-lb. Urea dust and damp air also corrode steel, so wipe the TE2003FUC clean after each shift. Do not use it to crack a stuck nut free, and book periodic recalibration with an outside lab.
