Description
Multiplex cinemas now fill malls across Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. Behind each screen, a digital projector also runs for hours every day. Its lens mount, light engine and cooling parts need service, and many screws there are tiny. The Snap-on TE1FUAC torque wrench lets a booth technician tighten and record them with care.

Small screws in a dark booth
Projection booths stay dim, and the projector often sits close to a wall. So a technician may reach around a housing and lose sight of the dial. With a follow-up dial, however, that matters less. The first needle points to the targeted torque, and the second one parks at the peak. Then the technician can pull the TE1FUAC back out and read the result under a torch.
Snap-on TE1FUAC torque wrench data
- Base model: TE1FUA, U.S. reading, follow-up with 2 needles.
- Square drive: 1/4 in.
- Range: 15 in-lb, in 1/4 in-lb increments.
- Size: 9-29/32 in long, 2-11/16 in wide, 1-1/4 in deep at the head.
- Storage case: PB9.
These figures come from the US Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy table on page 333 of Snap-on catalog CAT1500i. That catalog also notes that a C suffix orders the certificate of calibration model. So the TE1FUAC is the C version of the TE1FUA, and Lost in HCM’s title also mentions a chart.
Projector service tasks
- Lens mount and lens shift plate screws after a lens swap.
- Light engine and optical block covers during a clean.
- Fan, filter frame and duct bracket screws.
- Board and connector bracket screws where the service manual lists a value.
Projector makers set their own torque values, and some parts need no torque at all. Therefore read the service manual first, and keep the TE1FUAC for screws that have a printed number.
How fine is a 15 in-lb dial?
Lost in HCM lists the wrench under US Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy. In short, Snap-on describes that grade as within 2% of reading from 20% of full scale to the top. For the TE1FUAC, the band thus begins at 3 in-lb, or about 0.34 N·m. In addition, 15 in-lb equals roughly 1.7 N·m, so convert metric values before you start.
Heat, dust and the PB9 case
Projectors push out hot air, and booths collect dust from the air filters. Snap-on rates its Torqometer wrenches for 0 to 100 °F, so keep this one away from exhaust vents. Also return the follow-up needle to zero before each screw. After the job, wipe the TE1FUAC and store it in its PB9 case. Finally, book periodic recalibration, since Snap-on says the dial needs it to stay accurate.

Booth technician FAQ
Why not use a screwdriver-style tool?
A torque driver suits bit screws. However, the TE1FUAC has a 1/4 in square drive, so it also reaches hex screws and small nuts through a socket.
What paperwork does with Chart imply here?
The listing says with Chart, and the C suffix marks the certificate model in Snap-on’s catalog. Ask Lost in HCM what documents ship with your unit.
Is there a version with a metric scale?
Snap-on’s combination table lists the TEC1FUA with 16 kg·cm and 15 in-lb scales. However, the TE1FUAC itself reads in-lb only.
