Description
Fine steps and a short body set this wrench apart. The Snap-on TE100 Torqometer reads to 100 ft-lb on a 1/2 inch square drive, and every mark on its dial equals just 1 ft-lb. Yet the whole frame measures only 16 inches. So it fits a crowded assembly bench as easily as a tool cart.

Bench jobs in motor and gear reducer plants
In particular, Vietnam now hosts many makers of electric motors, pumps and gear reducers for export. Their lines also close housings, mount feet and fit flanges with mid-size bolts. Because the values vary from frame to frame, a dial such as the TE100 saves the time it takes to reset a click wrench.
- End shield bolts on motor housings.
- Foot and flange mounting bolts on gear reducers.
- Pump casing and bracket bolts.
- Sample audits after an automatic nutrunner.
Basic, follow-up or signal?
| Code | Dial style (CAT1500i p.333) | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| TE100 | Basic, one needle shows torque achieved | Operator watches the dial on every pull |
| TE100FU | Follow-up, two needles | Audits where the reading needs logging after the pull |
| TE100L | Signal light flashes at target | Noisy cells where eyes stay on the part |
All three share one catalog row. Therefore the Snap-on TE100 Torqometer uses the same 2-3/4 inch width, 1-3/8 inch head depth and PBR5 storage case as its siblings. So choose the basic code when a skilled fitter can keep the dial in view.
Working band and conversions
Snap-on’s UK brochure gives Torqometer accuracy as within 2% of the reading, clockwise and counterclockwise, once the load passes 20% of full scale. On the TE100, then, plan work from 20 to 100 ft-lb. Many motor drawings print N·m, so keep a conversion note on the bench. For reference, 100 ft-lb equals about 136 N·m.
Daily care for the Snap-on TE100 Torqometer
First, return the wrench to its PBR5 case after each shift, and keep the dial guard free of metal chips. Also hold the grip, not the beam, while you pull. Snap-on states that you should not break fasteners loose with a Torqometer or exceed rated torque. It also lists an operating range of 0 to 100 °F. Finally, send the wrench to an outside lab for periodic recalibration.

Motor line questions
Why choose 1 ft-lb marks over a coarser dial?
Tight tolerances on small housings leave little room. So with 1 ft-lb marks, the fitter can stop close to the value without guessing between lines.
Is the TE100 short enough for bench work?
Yes, for most benches. Snap-on lists the frame at 16 inches, which also keeps pull force modest at 100 ft-lb.
When should I move up to the TE250?
Move up when your values pass 100 ft-lb. The TE250 shares the 1/2 inch drive but reads to 250 ft-lb in 5 ft-lb marks.
