Description
M16 bolts hold down pump bases, gearbox feet and many structural joints, and their hex is 24 mm in both ISO and DIN tables. When those bolts carry a high property class, the torque spec can outrun a mid-size wrench. The Snap-on QZXM24ADP box end head answers with a closed 24 mm ring on Snap-on’s largest shank, the Z.

QZXM24ADP ring dimensions
- Opening: 24 mm, 12-point closed ring.
- Shank: Z, 0.990 in diameter.
- Outside diameter: 35 mm. Head depth: 15 mm.
- Reach from pin to bolt center: 5.75 in, shared by every QZXM ring.
- Finish: industrial, per the partner listing.
Reading the 375 ft-lb rating
The partner listing gives the QZXM24ADP a maximum recommended working torque of 375 ft-lb, about 508 N·m. Snap-on’s UK brochure prints 4,505 in-lb for its 24 mm Z ring, which converts to the same 375 ft-lb. However, the brochure names that part QZXM24A, without the DP letters. So ask Lost in HCM to confirm the rating for this exact part when it quotes.
Z bodies for the Snap-on QZXM24ADP box end head
| Body | Range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| QD4IN800A | 129-572 ft-lb (150-800 N·m) | Dual scale, 41-1/2 in long |
| CTECH4Z600A | 30-600 ft-lb | ControlTech, head-length factor built in |
Both bodies reach past 375 ft-lb, so cap the setting at the head rating. In addition, the QZXM24ADP keeps the 5.75 in Z spacing. Snap-on says QD heads at that spacing need no adjustment math. The QD table also carries a note about dual-pin heads, so check the pin layout with Lost in HCM first.
Why not stop at the X shank?
Snap-on also makes 24 mm rings for J, Y and X bodies, and the brochure gives all four one width and depth. The X version, the QXXM24A, works on lighter bodies such as the QD3IN350A, which tops out at 251 ft-lb. Meanwhile, the QC4P300 preset reaches 300 ft-lb. So once an M16 spec climbs past roughly 250 to 300 ft-lb, the QZXM24ADP and a Z body become the practical pair.
Working with a long Z wrench
Before each job, check the Snap-on QZXM24ADP box end head for cracks or bright wear on the points. A Z body also needs a clear arc and a firm stance, so plan the pull before you start. Then seat the QZXM24ADP fully over the hex, because a half-seated ring can tip off under load. Also pull at a steady speed and stop at the signal. Finally, never use the head to free a seized bolt, since Snap-on warns against that.

Lost in HCM supplies this Z ring and sends every quote, while SMK Vietnam only lists it. Include your Z body model, the bolt grade and the torque value. Once that list is ready, ask Lost in HCM to quote the QZXM24ADP. For other rings, open torque wrench heads and adaptors, or contact SMK Vietnam.
QZXM24ADP fit and rating questions
Does the QZXM24ADP fit ISO and DIN M16 bolts?
Yes. Both standards use a 24 mm hex for M16. Even so, measure coated or painted parts first.
Can an X-shank body take the QZXM24ADP?
No. It needs a Z receiver. For an X body, order the QXXM24A instead.
How much side room does the ring need?
Its 35 mm width means about 17.5 mm from the bolt center to any wall. The ring is 15 mm deep.
