Description

M6 is one of the most common sizes on factory equipment. Its ISO hex nuts and bolt heads measure 10 mm across flats. The Snap-on IZ10OE9X12 torque insert gives a 9 x 12 mm interchangeable wrench a 10 mm OE head for that work. Because the head swaps in seconds, one calibrated body can move between M6 and other small sizes on the same shift.

10 mm: OE or ring?

At 10 mm, Snap-on offers two styles on the 9 x 12 fitting. The IZ10OE9X12 is the OE version. Meanwhile, the IZ10IR9X12 is the smallest insert ring in the range. A ring closes around the nut, so it needs room to drop over it from above. By contrast, the OE head can approach from the side. That makes it the better pick for nuts on threaded rod, studs close to a wall, or fittings with a line attached.

Any 9 x 12 receiver accepts this head. Snap-on lists three ControlTech models with that fitting:

• CTECHAN30A: 1.50 to 30.00 N·m.
• CTECHANM30: 1.5 to 30 N·m.
• CTECHAN135A: 6.8 to 135.0 N·m.

For most M6 specs, a 30 N·m body keeps the value in a comfortable part of the scale. However, a station that also runs M10 or M12 joints may prefer the CTECHAN135A. In either case, enter the head-length factor for the IZ10OE9X12 before you tighten.
