Description

When an M27 nut on a rod end needs a firm spec, a light jaw will spread before you reach it. The Snap-on QZOM41ADP open end head solves that with a Z shank (0.990 in) and two locking pins. In addition, it carries the highest limit that Snap-on lists for a 41 mm jaw.

Snap-on QZOM41ADP open end head, 41 mm dual pin jaw for Z shank torque wrenches

One opening, three ratings

41 mm head Shank Max working torque
QYOM41 Y (0.560 in) 160 ft-lb
QXOM41A X (0.735 in) 240 ft-lb
QZOM41ADP Z (0.990 in), dual pins 480 ft-lb

All three measure 83 mm across and 18 mm deep, according to CAT1500i. So the shank, not the size of the head, sets the limit. Choose the QZOM41ADP only when the spec passes what the X head can carry.

The Z wrench behind the Snap-on QZOM41ADP open end head

The Z body in CAT1500i is the QD4IN800A. It reads 129 to 572 ft-lb, or 150 to 800 N·m. Because the head stops at 480 ft-lb, your usable window runs from 129 to 480 ft-lb. Also, the QD table notes that a body takes dual-pin heads only, and this head has two pins. Snap-on keeps the QZOM pin-to-fastener distance at 5.75 in, so no length correction applies.

Heavy M27 work that suits it

Think of jam nuts on press tie rods, large cylinder rod-end nuts and heavy turnbuckle locks. These parts often sit on a threaded shaft, so a socket cannot slide over them. The QZOM41ADP reaches them from the side instead. Then the body click marks the spec on every joint.

Handling the QZOM41ADP and its body

The QD4IN800A runs 41-1/2 in long and weighs about 11 lb. Therefore, plan your footing and the swing arc before the pull. Wipe both pins clean, since grit can stop them from seating. Finally, never use the set to free a seized nut, as Snap-on warns.

Dual-pin 41 mm questions

How many N·m is the QZOM41ADP limit?

About 651 N·m. Keep the QD4IN800A at or below that value with this head.

Is the QZOM41ADP wider than the Y or X 41 mm heads?

No. CAT1500i gives all three the same 83 mm width and 18 mm depth.

Why pick the Z head over the QXOM41A?

Pick it when the joint needs more than 240 ft-lb. Below that, the X head keeps the tool lighter.
