Description
Not every M24 joint calls for a long, heavy wrench. Flange nuts on cast covers, lock nuts on adjusters and anchor nuts on light frames often carry mid-range values. The Snap-on QYXM36A box end head lets a Y body handle that 36 mm hex. As a result, the fitter swings a 23 in tool instead of a far longer Z body.

The QYXM36A by the numbers
- Ring: 36 mm, 12-point, closed.
- Shank: Y (0.560 in).
- Width 53 mm, depth 22 mm.
- Pin to fastener center: 3.00 in, shared by all QYXM rings.
Snap-on’s UK brochure and the partner listing agree on these sizes. However, they print different maximum ratings, so we leave that number out. Lost in HCM checks it for you before you set a body.

Is a Y ring strong enough for M24?
That depends on the joint, not the hex. A high-strength M24 bolt in steel usually needs an X or Z body. So Snap-on also builds this 36 mm ring as the QXXM36A and QZXM36A, with the same width and depth. In contrast, the QYXM36A suits M24 parts with lighter specs. For instance, soft gaskets, aluminum flanges and plastic tank fittings can fail under a heavy pull.
Clearance and pulling tips
The 53 mm ring needs roughly 26.5 mm from the bolt center to the nearest face. Seat the QYXM36A fully over the hex, so the load spreads across all six corners. Then pull at the grip with a smooth motion and stop at the signal. Also, never use the head to break a seized bolt loose, because Snap-on warns against it.

QYXM36A questions from buyers
Is 36 mm the largest Y ring?
Yes. Snap-on’s metric 12-point table ends at 36 mm for the Y shank.
Will the QYXM36A fit a DIN M24 nut?
Yes. ISO and DIN both give M24 a 36 mm hex. Still, measure older or special parts.
Why not pick the Z version every time?
A Z body is long and heavy. So for mid-range specs, the shorter Y tool is easier to handle.
