When one of those parts needs a firm, recorded value, the Snap-on QYXM20A box end head brings a closed 20 mm ring to a Y-shank (0.560 in) body. The Y shank sits between the light J and the heavier X. So it suits mid-range specs on a 23 in wrench.

The UK torque brochure lists the 20 mm ring for J, Y and X bodies. All three measure 30 mm across and 13 mm deep. The Y version places the fastener 3.00 in from the retaining pin, compared with 2.50 in on J and 4.50 in on X. In addition, the partner listing agrees on the width, depth and reach.

The CTECH2Y100A is the shortest of the four, at 17.2 in. Therefore it fits better in a cramped bay, while the 23 in bodies give more leverage on the QYXM20A.

Because 20 mm is a maker’s choice, a part that looks like 20 may really be 19 or 21. So hold a caliper across the flats before you order. A 19 mm reading points to DIN M12 hardware, while 21 mm points to ISO M14. In those cases, a different ring fits better than the Snap-on QYXM20A box end head.
