Description
A 36 mm hex is the M24 size, yet many 36 mm parts need only moderate torque. The Snap-on QYOM36A open end head fits that hex from the side on a Y-shank (0.560 in) wrench. Because Y bodies run 23 in long, the kit stays far lighter than a Z setup.

QYOM36A dimensions both catalogs agree on
- Opening: 36 mm
- Shank: Y (0.560 in)
- Width (O.D.): 74 mm
- Head depth: 15 mm
- Pin to fastener center: 3.00 in (QYOM series)
We checked these figures in CAT1500i and in the UK torque brochure. The source packet labels the 3.00 in spacing as QZOM. However, both Snap-on sources give 3.00 in to the QYOM series, so this page uses that value.
Where the Snap-on QYOM36A open end head fits in M24 work
ISO 4032 and DIN 934 both give the M24 nut a 36 mm hex. Still, a high-strength steel M24 joint often calls for more torque than any Y body delivers. So the Snap-on QYOM36A open end head suits lighter 36 mm jobs instead. For example, consider a large lock ring on an adjuster, a union on a cooling line or a gland nut on a pump. Before you order, check that your spec falls inside the Y body range.
Picking a Y wrench body
CAT1500i lists three Y-shank bodies for the QYOM36A. The QC3P150 is a preset model for 30 to 150 ft-lb. Next, the QC3P200 covers 40 to 200 ft-lb, also preset. Finally, the QD3IN200B adjusts from 40 to 200 N·m, or 37 to 140 ft-lb. All three share a 23 in length, while only the QD model comes with a calibration certificate.
Rating and clearance for the Snap-on QYOM36A open end head
The two Snap-on publications disagree on this head’s maximum working torque, so we leave the figure out. Ask Lost in HCM to confirm it with the quote. Also plan for size. At 74 mm across, the jaw needs a clear gap beside the nut. Then the 23 in handle needs room to swing as well.
Supply of the QYOM36A
SMK Vietnam lists this head, and its partner Lost in HCM supplies it. To start, request a quote from Lost in HCM and share your Y body model and joint spec. For other jaws, open torque wrench heads and adaptors, or contact SMK Vietnam.
36 mm Y-head FAQ
Does the QYOM36A come in other shanks?
Yes, at the same opening. CAT1500i shows the QJOM36A, QXOM36A and QZOM36ADP at 36 mm. Each one needs a body with its own shank.
Will a 36 mm jaw fit an M24 bolt head?
Usually yes. ISO 4017 gives M24 hex bolts a 36 mm head. Still, measure coated or worn parts first.
Which Y body comes with a certificate?
CAT1500i says the QD3IN200B includes a calibration certificate. The preset QC3 bodies do not.
