Description
Twenty-three millimeters falls between the common bolt sizes, so it catches people out. The Snap-on QYOM23A open end head covers it on a Y-shank (0.560 in) torque body. Because the jaw slides on from the side, it reaches 23 mm fittings that sit along a tube or hose.

What both Snap-on sources confirm
- Opening: 23 mm.
- Shank: Y (0.560 in).
- O.D.: 47 mm.
- Head depth: 10 mm.
- Pin-to-fastener distance: 3.00 in (QYOM series).
CAT1500i and the UK brochure agree on these points for the QYOM23A. However, they print different torque limits, so that figure comes from Lost in HCM with your quote.
Where a 23 mm hex turns up
Neither ISO 4032 nor DIN 934 gives a bolt a 23 mm hex. M14 uses 21 or 22 mm, while M16 uses 24 mm. So a 23 mm part is usually a hose fitting, a valve body, a sensor or a special nut. In addition, some machine builders use it for adjuster nuts. Measure the flats before you order a QYOM23A, since 22, 23 and 24 mm look alike on a worn part.
Which Y wrench drives the Snap-on QYOM23A open end head
CAT1500i lists three Y bodies. The QC3P150 presets from 30 to 150 ft-lb, and the QC3P200 from 40 to 200 ft-lb. Then the QD3IN200B adjusts from 40 to 200 N·m, about 37 to 140 ft-lb. Each body accepts the QYOM23A, yet each must stay at or below the confirmed head limit. Also, Snap-on sizes QD heads from pin to fastener, so you skip any length correction.
Other shanks at 23 mm
The same opening exists as the QJOM23A on the J shank and the QXOM23A on the X shank. So a low spec may suit the lighter J tool, while a higher one may need the X head. For a closed grip, Snap-on also makes 12-point ring heads at 23 mm. Match the shank to the bodies on your bench before you choose the QYOM23A.

23 mm Y-head questions
Why would a part have a 23 mm hex?
Usually because it is a fitting, valve or special nut. No ISO 4032 or DIN 934 bolt uses 23 mm.
What torque limit does the QYOM23A carry?
CAT1500i and the UK brochure disagree, so Lost in HCM confirms the figure for your order.
How much side room does the QYOM23A need?
Plan for 47 mm of width and a head that stands 10 mm deep.
