Description
Small fasteners fail in a different way from big ones. A 9 mm nut on a ground stud or a brass fitting can strip long before a technician feels it. The Snap-on QJOM9A open end head puts a low, published limit on that job, and it reaches nuts that a socket cannot cover.

Where a 9 mm jaw fits in an electronics plant
Control cabinets, test fixtures and instrument racks use many small studs and fittings. For example, ground studs on enclosure doors, push-in fittings on air lines and threaded sensor bodies often need only light torque. The QJOM9A slides onto these from the side, so you can work past a cable bundle or a tube. Also, its 5 mm depth lets it slip between a panel and a terminal block.
Picking a J body for a 14 ft-lb head
The QJOM9A rating sits low, so the body scale matters. Snap-on states that QC series bodies hold their accuracy from 20 to 100% of full scale. Therefore a QC2I75 (5 to 75 ft-lb) only enters that band above 15 ft-lb, which is past this head’s limit. The QC1I200, at 40 to 200 in-lb, covers the useful range instead. For repeat work at one value, a preset J body such as the QC1P300 also fits the band. However, Snap-on restricts a few small open-end heads to certain light bodies, so ask Lost in HCM to confirm your pairing.
Moving up from the Snap-on QJOM9A open end head
Snap-on makes the 9 mm open-end head in J shank only. So if a 9 mm joint needs more than 14 ft-lb, an open jaw is the wrong tool. In that case, use a socket on a square drive head, or check the fastener spec again. Meanwhile, the next size up, the QJOM10A, carries 22 ft-lb for 10 mm work.
Caring for a small QJOM9A jaw
Small jaws wear fast if they slip, because the corners of a 9 mm nut are tiny. Keep the Snap-on QJOM9A open end head clean and dry, and seat it fully before each pull. Also store it in a fitted tray, so it does not mix with 8 mm or 10 mm heads.

QJOM9A questions from buyers
Why is the QJOM9A rated at only 14 ft-lb?
Snap-on publishes 14 ft-lb for this jaw size. That low limit protects both the small jaw and the small threads it serves.
Is there a Y-shank 9 mm open-end head?
No. In the CAT1500i table, the 9 mm open-end head comes in J shank only.
Why not pair it with a QC2I75 body?
At 14 ft-lb, the head limit sits below the 20% point of that body’s 75 ft-lb scale. A lighter body such as the QC1I200 reads better at this level.
