Description
M6 hardware holds a huge share of any factory together. Guard panels, cable trays, sensor brackets and small motor covers all use it, and ISO gives the M6 bolt a 10 mm hex. The Snap-on QJOM10A open end head lets a J-shank torque body grip that hex from the side, even when a cable or hose blocks the top.

QJOM10A size and limit
- Opening: 10 mm, open end.
- Shank: J (0.425 in).
- Maximum recommended working torque: 22 ft-lb, roughly 264 in-lb or 30 N·m.
- Fastener center to retaining pin: 2.50 in.
CAT1500i and the UK brochure agree on that limit. Still, they print slightly different width and depth values, so we quote neither one here.
Three J bodies that suit a 22 ft-lb jaw
The QJOM10A limit falls between two body ranges, so pick by the value you set most often. For example, the QC1P300 presets from 60 to 300 in-lb, which suits one fixed M6 value on a line. The QC1I200 adjusts from 40 to 200 in-lb, so it covers lighter M6 specs. Meanwhile, the QD2IN50A dual-range body reads 10 to 50 N·m, and Snap-on includes a calibration certificate with QD bodies. A QC2I75 also fits, but its accurate span starts at 15 ft-lb, which leaves a narrow window.
Setting M6 torque with the Snap-on QJOM10A open end head
With the Snap-on QJOM10A open end head, the joint sets the value, not the tool. M6 specs vary with bolt grade, thread type and the part underneath. So always take the value from the drawing or the maker’s manual. Then set the body, square the jaw on both flats and pull at a steady pace. Stop at the click, because an extra tug adds torque the joint never needed. For soft aluminum or plastic parts, the drawing value is usually lower, so double-check it before you start.
9 mm, 11 mm, or a 10 mm socket?
Some machines mix sizes, so measure before you order. The QJOM9A carries 14 ft-lb, while the QJOM11A carries 33 ft-lb in CAT1500i. Also, Snap-on lists the 10 mm jaw in J shank only, so there is no heavier 10 mm jaw. If the bolt head sits in the open, a 1/4 in square drive head with a socket gives a firmer grip than the QJOM10A.

M6 questions about the QJOM10A
Is 10 mm the right jaw for an M6 bolt?
Yes, for standard ISO M6 hex bolts and nuts. Flange bolts and special parts can differ, so measure first.
Which body reaches the QJOM10A limit inside its range?
The QC1P300 preset and the QD2IN50A both cover 22 ft-lb. The QC1I200 stops at 200 in-lb, just under it.
Can the QJOM10A free a seized M6 bolt?
No. Snap-on warns against loosening fasteners with torque tools, so use a standard wrench for that.
