Description
Half-inch sockets handle a large share of plant bolting, from motor feet to guard brackets. The Snap-on QJD16A ratcheting head lets a J-shank torque wrench body drive them. Its ratchet also runs the nut down in short swings, so you rarely lift the wrench off the joint.

Where the Snap-on QJD16A ratcheting head sits in the J range
Snap-on’s J ratcheting heads step from 1/4 in through 3/8 in to 1/2 in. The table shows no 3/4 in or 1 in head for J bodies. So the QJD16A is the largest square drive you can ratchet on a J shank. For 3/4 in sockets, you would move to an X-shank body and the QXD24A.
QJD16A or QJD16SL?
Both carry a 1/2 in ratcheting drive on a J shank. The QJD16SL, however, places the fastener 3.5 in from the pin and uses the RKRS80A kit. In contrast, the QJD16A keeps the 2.50 in spacing that Snap-on’s dual-range J bodies expect. Therefore, pick the QJD16A for direct readings, and keep the SL head for spots that need extra reach.
J bodies for the QJD16A
On SMK Vietnam, the QC2I75 adjustable body covers 5-75 ft-lb, while the QD2IN100A dual-range body reads 20-100 N·m. The CTECH1J240A electronic wrench also takes J heads. Snap-on’s square drive table prints no torque rating for the head itself, so ask Lost in HCM to confirm it. Also check the rating of each socket and extension in the chain.
Servicing the QJD16A ratchet
A ratchet that skips or feels gritty needs attention before it touches a production joint. Snap-on names the RKRS936 kit for this head, so you can rebuild the mechanism instead of replacing the head. In addition, never use the wrench to break seized bolts loose, as Snap-on warns.
Request the Snap-on QJD16A ratcheting head
SMK Vietnam lists this head for Lost in HCM, which supplies it and writes the quote. Tell them your J body model and socket sizes. Then ask Lost in HCM to quote the QJD16A. You can also browse heads and adaptors, compare J-shank torque wrenches, or contact SMK Vietnam.
QJD16A questions
Is there a larger ratcheting drive for J bodies?
No. Snap-on’s ratcheting table stops at 1/2 in for the J shank. For 3/4 in, it lists the X-shank QXD24A.
Which kit rebuilds the QJD16A ratchet?
Snap-on lists the RKRS936 ratchet service kit for this head.
Does the QJD16A need a setting correction?
Not on Snap-on’s dual-range J bodies. It keeps the 2.50 in spacing they use, so they need no adjustment math. For other bodies, follow the wrench manual.
