Description
Terminal screws, cable lugs and small covers in electrical gear need a set torque, not a strong wrist. The Snap-on QDRIVER4 torque screwdriver gives that control in an adjustable tool. It covers 5 to 40 in-lb, or 56 to 451 N·cm, and it takes standard 1/4-inch hex bits.

How the QDRIVER4 limits torque
The QDRIVER4 uses a cam-over clutch. When the screw reaches the set value, the clutch free-wheels for 90 degrees, so the user cannot add more. As a result, an extra push does not over-tighten a terminal. Snap-on rates accuracy at ±6% from 20 to 100% of full scale, in the clockwise direction.

Adjustable or preset?
Snap-on also makes the QDRIVER4P, a preset driver with a similar range. A preset tool suits a line where one value never changes. By contrast, the adjustable QDRIVER4 suits maintenance and energy work, where one technician meets many screw sizes in a day. In addition, its 0.5 in-lb steps let the user match a drawing value closely.
Where the Snap-on QDRIVER4 torque screwdriver fits
Lost in HCM lists it for oil and gas, electrical and renewable energy work. Typical jobs include terminal blocks, breaker connections, sensor heads and inverter covers. Snap-on also suggests it for low-torque assemblies and precision tasks, such as dash work on vehicles.
Keeping it accurate
Check the QDRIVER4 on a torque tester at a low, middle and high setting when it arrives. Then repeat the check on the interval your quality plan sets. Also keep it apart from loose tools in a drawer, since knocks can disturb the clutch.
