Description
Electronics plants rarely deal with big bolts, yet torque still matters on the line. Heat sinks, chassis screws and ground studs all need a set value. The Snap-on QD1200A torque wrench serves that light end of the scale. It has a 1/4″ square drive, a fixed head and an adjustable click range of 40 to 200 in-lb.

Light torque on electronics lines
On a box-build line, too much torque can crack a board, strip a thread in a die-cast housing or crush a thermal pad. Too little, however, leaves poor heat transfer or a loose ground. So the click of the QD1200A gives operators a clear, repeatable stop. The 1/4″ drive also matches the small sockets and bit adapters common at electronics stations.
Where the Snap-on QD1200A torque wrench fits in box build
- Power module and heat sink mounting screws.
- Enclosure, chassis and rack-mount hardware.
- Ground studs and terminal screws on power supplies.
- Fixture and test jig plates on the line.
For values under 40 in-lb, a torque screwdriver suits better than the Snap-on QD1200A torque wrench.
Converting the spec sheet
Component makers often state torque in N·m, and some Asian datasheets still use kgf·cm. For N·m, divide by 0.113 to get in-lb. For kgf·cm, multiply by 0.868 instead. The table shows a few worked values for the QD1200A.
| Spec | Set on the QD1200A (in-lb, approx.) |
|---|---|
| 5 N·m | 44 |
| 12 N·m | 106 |
| 20 N·m | 177 |
| 100 kgf·cm | 87 |
Line care and handling
Keep the QD1200A at its station in a holder, not loose on the bench. Return the scale to 40 in-lb at shift end, because a spring left under load drifts. In addition, ask your ESD coordinator whether the tool needs extra controls before it enters a protected area. Then follow your plant’s schedule for independent calibration checks, and record the serial number on the station sheet.

Questions from electronics buyers
Is the Snap-on QD1200A torque wrench right for heat sink screws?
Often, yes, if the spec falls between 40 and 200 in-lb. For lower values, pair the QD1200A with a torque screwdriver.
Does the QD1200A ratchet?
No. The QD1200A has a fixed head, so it makes the final pull after the screw runs down.
Can I order several QD1200A wrenches for one line?
Put the quantity in your request, and Lost in HCM will quote the QD1200A order on that basis.
