Description
On a busy assembly cell, the torque wrench rarely leaves the operator’s hand, so its weight adds up by the end of a shift. The Snap-on CTECHL1R240A torque wrench keeps that load low. It joins the black anodized aluminum body of the CTECHL line to a sealed 1/4″ ratchet head. As a result, the operator can run a screw down and torque it without a tool change.

Aluminum or steel: what the L in CTECHL changes
Snap-on builds the standard CTECH wrenches with an all-steel body for strength. The CTECHL versions use 6061-T aerospace aluminum instead, so they shed weight. For example, the steel CTECH1R240A covers the same 1-20 ft-lb range at the same 14.1 inch length, yet it weighs 2.0 lb. The CTECHL1R240A comes in at 1.2 lb, which saves 0.8 lb in the hand. However, steel still suits a shared tool crib where wrenches take knocks and drops.
A ratchet that suits short swings
The head on the CTECHL1R240A carries 72 teeth, so it needs only a 5 degree swing to pick up the next tooth. That helps inside appliance housings, gearbox covers and seat frames, where the handle cannot travel far. Also, Snap-on lists the head as sealed, which suits dusty production floors.

Where the CTECHL1R240A earns its keep
- Overhead fastening on bus, truck and machine frames, where a light wrench reduces fatigue.
- Electronics and appliance cells that need a logged result for each screw.
- Cover and bracket patterns, because job mode walks the operator through each bolt in order.
- Torque-plus-angle joints, since the combo mode measures both in one pull.
In addition, every result from the CTECHL1R240A carries a time stamp, and the file downloads over USB. Then QA can trace each joint back to a date and time.

CTECHL1R240A buyer questions
How much lighter is it than the steel version?
Snap-on lists 1.2 lb for the CTECHL1R240A and 2.0 lb for the steel CTECH1R240A. Both measure 14.1 inches long.
Does the lighter body lower the accuracy?
No. Snap-on gives the same ±2% clockwise and ±3% counterclockwise rating to the standard ControlTech Industrial models, steel or aluminum.
Can I loosen seized bolts with it?
No. Snap-on warns against using its torque wrenches to break fasteners loose. Use a breaker bar first, then torque with the CTECHL1R240A.
