Description
Cylinder heads, connecting rods and many structural joints now use a torque-then-angle spec. A click wrench cannot track the second step. The Snap-on CTECH3X250A torque wrench can. It is a ControlTech Industrial digital wrench with an X-shank head fitting and a 12.5 to 250 ft-lb range.

Torque-plus-angle with the Snap-on CTECH3X250A torque wrench
In combo mode, the wrench reads torque and angle in a single pull. Snap-on rates angle at ±1% of reading over 0 to 360°. So the tech sets a snug value, then the turn, and watches one screen. Lights, a beep and handle vibration mark each target.
Patterns and sequences
Many flanges need a cross pattern in two or three passes. The wrench holds 50 presets and a locked job mode, so each pass follows the set order. As a result, the crew skips fewer joints.
About the X shank on the CTECH3X250A
The X shank measures 0.735 in. It sits between the Y size on 100 ft-lb models and the Z size on 600 ft-lb models. Heads for it come separately, for example a 1/2″ ratchet head, open-end heads or box-end heads. Before you order, check each head’s rating, since the top of this wrench is 250 ft-lb.
The wrench also carries a built-in calibration factor for head length. Thus a longer open-end head does not force a manual correction.
