Description

A calibration lab that checks dozens of wrenches a day needs loading that does not depend on one person’s arm. Snap-on’s TTC2800 system handles that with a motorized loader. The Snap-on TTC810 digital indicator is the readout of that system. In short, it reads the transducer, shows the torque and keeps the record.

Where the Snap-on TTC810 digital indicator sits in the TTC2800

Snap-on’s UK torque brochure lists the TTC810 as the torque tester for the TTC2800 system. The TTC800 motorized loader applies load to the wrench under test. Meanwhile, TTC series transducers sense the torque and feed it to the TTC810. Snap-on lists the loader modes as Manual, Auto Dial and Auto 1st Peak, so the motor can do the pulling at a steady rate.

What the indicator does

  • Recognizes TTC Smart transducers automatically.
  • Works in Track, Peak, First Peak, Power Tool and Angle modes.
  • Stores up to 3,000 values with date and time.
  • Runs statistics such as mean, sigma, Cp and Cpk.
  • Offers an RS232C port and an analog output as standard.

Snap-on quotes a system accuracy of ±0.5% of reading at 25 °C when the transducers are not matched to the TTC810. With TTC transducer calibration, the brochure gives ±0.25%.

Force testing as well as torque

The brochure adds that the TTC610 and TTC810 also measure, store and analyse force inputs. With the right fixtures, the system can test tension meters and compression gauges. So one TTC810 bench can serve a wider share of the tool crib than a torque-only tester.

Who should buy one

The Snap-on TTC810 digital indicator makes sense for teams that already run a TTC2800 bench and need a spare or replacement readout. It also suits a lab that plans to build a motorized bench in stages. In either case, transducers and the loader are separate items.

Setting up the Snap-on TTC810 digital indicator

First, put the bench in a stable room, because Snap-on rates accuracy at 25 °C. Also keep each transducer with its record, and calibrate the set on a fixed cycle. Finally, train operators on the auto modes first, since they remove most of the human effect.

TTC810 questions

What is the difference between the TTC810 and the TTC610?

The TTC810 is the readout for the motorized TTC2800 system. The TTC610 serves the manual TTC2000 system with its hand-crank loader.

Does the TTC810 include a loader or transducers?

No. It is the indicator only. Ask Lost in HCM about the TTC800 loader and the TTC transducers you need.

Can it record angle?

Snap-on lists an Angle mode for the TTC2000/TTC2800 system, which uses an optical rotary encoder.
