Description
Light assembly lines run on small torque values, and small errors there add up fast. The CDI 2502-I-DTT torque tester checks the wrenches that set those values. It reads 25 to 250 in-lb, or 2.8 to 28.2 N·m, and accepts tools through a 3/8-inch drive.

A close look at the CDI 2502-I-DTT torque tester
CDI Torque Products builds industrial torque tools under the Snap-on group. Its DTT models are digital testers that show the reading on a display. For that reason, an operator can see the result straight away and log it with the tool number.
The span starts low, so it suits light click wrenches and other low-value hand tools. Meanwhile the 3/8-inch drive matches the most common drive size for that class of wrench.
Lines that benefit
Appliance plants use light wrenches on motors, brackets and panels. Electrical cabinet builders tighten terminal and earth bolts at low values. In addition, makers of furniture fittings, bicycles and small pumps work in the same band. Each of these teams gains from a tester on the line, because a quick check takes less time than a rework.
Daily verification in four steps
- Pick a test value near the middle of the wrench scale.
- Load the wrench slowly on the tester until it releases.
- Note the reading next to the wrench ID and the date.
- Quarantine any tool outside your limit and tag it for repair.
When to choose a different model
If your settings sit under about 25 in-lb, look at a 1/4-inch CDI tester instead. On the other hand, wrenches set well above 250 in-lb need a larger 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch unit. As a rule, match the tester to the wrenches you check most often.
Looking after it
Keep the tester on a stable bench and away from oil mist. Also cover it when the line is idle. It needs a regular calibration check of its own, so schedule one with an independent lab.
