Description
Plenty of mid-size click wrenches on a factory floor use a 3/8 in drive and work below 100 ft-lb. The Snap-on TTC8 torque transducer checks that band with a 3/8 in drive and a range of 80 to 1,000 in-lb. In other units, that is about 9.0 to 113 N·m, or roughly 6.7 to 83 ft-lb.

TTC8 between its neighbors
| Model | Drive | Range | Bench bracket |
|---|---|---|---|
| TTC7 | 3/8 in | 30-400 in-lb | TTC3421 |
| TTC8 | 3/8 in | 80-1,000 in-lb | TTC3421 |
| TTC10 | 1/2 in | 10-125 ft-lb | TTC3422 |
So the TTC8 picks up where the TTC7 tops out. It also overlaps the TTC10 from 120 to 1,000 in-lb.
Wrenches that suit the Snap-on TTC8 torque transducer
Snap-on quotes ±0.25% of indicated value from 10 to 100% of full scale for its TTC2000 system. For the TTC8, 10% of full scale is 100 in-lb. Many labs test a wrench at 20, 60 and 100% of its scale. For a QC2I75 body (5 to 75 ft-lb), those points are 180, 540 and 900 in-lb. As a result, all three fall inside the TTC8 range. By contrast, the 3/8 in ControlTech CTECH2FR100A reads up to 100 ft-lb, which is 1,200 in-lb. So its top point needs the TTC10 instead.
Snap-on TTC8 torque transducer or the TTC400 4-in-1?
The TTC400 in the TTC2000SYS and TTC2800SYS kits already has a 3/8 in 80 to 1,000 in-lb section, per the Snap-on UK brochure. So a kit owner may not need a separate TTC8 for routine wrench checks. However, Snap-on notes that force testing works only with single transducers, not the TTC400. In addition, the TTC400 needs the TTC5000-1 adaptor plate on Snap-on loaders, while the TTC8 sits on the TTC3421 bracket.
Monitors, loaders and smart memory
The TTC8 plugs into the same family of TTC2000, TTC2800 and Versatest monitors. Each TTC transducer carries a memory chip that identifies it and keeps its calibration, so the monitor sets up on its own. For loading, the VERSA600LDR2 accepts any TTC transducer from 15 in-oz to 600 ft-lb, which covers this sensor.
Mounting and checking the TTC8
Bolt the TTC3421 bracket to a rigid bench, then mount the TTC8 so it cannot rotate. Never load it past 1,000 in-lb, since Snap-on warns against exceeding rated torque. Also plan periodic recalibration checks, as Snap-on advises for its testers. For that work, Snap-on offers weight sets and the TTC25002 calibration stand kit for TTC transducers.
Quotes for the TTC8 from Lost in HCM
SMK Vietnam shows the TTC8 here, but Lost in HCM supplies the sensor and writes the quote. Tell them which monitor and loader you run. With that list ready, send a TTC8 quote request to Lost in HCM. Benches and parts sit in torque testers and calibration systems, or you can contact SMK Vietnam.
TTC8 buying questions
What drive and range does the TTC8 have?
A 3/8 in square drive and 80 to 1,000 in-lb, about 9.0 to 113 N·m.
Can the TTC8 check a 100 ft-lb wrench at full scale?
No. Its top is 1,000 in-lb, about 83 ft-lb, so use the TTC10 for that point.
Which bench bracket goes with the TTC8?
Snap-on lists the TTC3421, the same mount it gives the 1/4 in sensors and the TTC7.
