Description
Every torque tester relies on its transducer, so the transducer itself needs a check now and then. The Snap-on TTC1540 calibration arm handles that job at the heavy end of the scale. It is a 40 in lever with a 1-1/4 in drive. Hang known weights from it, and the transducer sees a known torque.

The idea behind a deadweight check
Torque equals force times distance. So a certified weight at a fixed lever length produces a torque you can trust. The transducer reads that torque, and you compare the display with the expected value. If the two agree within your limit, the transducer stays in service. If not, it goes out for adjustment and full calibration at an accredited lab. The TTC1540 applies this idea at the heavy end.
Where the Snap-on TTC1540 calibration arm sits in the range
Snap-on offers wheels and arms of rising size for its TTC series transducers:
| Part | Catalog description |
|---|---|
| TTC500 | 2-1/2 in calibration wheel, max 50 in-oz |
| TTC1510 | 5 in calibration wheel, max 150 in-lb |
| TTC1520 | 10 in butterfly wheel, max 250 ft-lb |
| TTC1530 | 1/2 in and 3/8 in drive 20 in calibration arm |
| TTC1540 | 1-1/4 in drive 40 in calibration arm |
As the table shows, the TTC1540 is the longest lever in the list. Therefore, it suits the large transducers at the top of the TTC range. Snap-on also certifies its arms to manufacturer’s standards.
What you pair with it
- A stand to hold the transducer, such as the TTC25002 calibration stand kit.
- Weights. Snap-on lists three NIST-traceable weight sets, and set 3 covers 600 to 2,000 ft-lb.
- Weight trays and hangers, which Snap-on offers in 7.5 lb, 15 lb and 50 lb tray sizes, plus small hangers.
- Drive adaptors where the transducer square differs from the arm.
In addition, Snap-on bundles the TTC1540 inside its TTCCALKIT calibration kit, along with the smaller wheels, weight set 1, trays and the stand kit.
Good practice with the TTC1540
Level the arm before you load it, because tilt shortens the true lever. Then add weights gently, since a swinging tray adds dynamic load. Also clean the drive and the weight seats, so nothing shifts during the reading. Finally, keep the arm hanging or flat in a rack, so it never bends.
Buying the TTC1540 in Vietnam
SMK Vietnam lists the Snap-on TTC1540 calibration arm for Lost in HCM, which supplies it and prepares quotes. Tell them which transducers you want to check when you request a quote from Lost in HCM. Snap-on TTC1540 calibration arm FAQ
Does the TTC1540 include weights?
No weights appear in its catalog line. Snap-on sells weight sets, hangers and trays as separate parts, or together in the TTCCALKIT.
What drive does the arm use?
Snap-on lists a 1-1/4 in drive. Its UK brochure adds that the arm comes with adaptors.
Does this arm replace an outside calibration?
No. It supports in-house checks between visits to an accredited lab, which still issues your formal certificates.
