Description
Wind farms in Ninh Thuan and the Mekong Delta check bolted joints in every nacelle and tower. Technicians climb with limited kit, so each tool must earn its weight. The Snap-on TEXC2005TL Torqometer gives them a dual-scale dial and a signal light in one T-handle head. It also reads in ft-lb and kg·m, and Lost in HCM supplies it in Vietnam.

Nacelle work for the Snap-on TEXC2005TL Torqometer
Turbine service manuals list values for yaw drive mounts, gearbox feet, generator frames and ladder fixings. In addition, many of those joints sit in cramped spaces near moving parts. With a light signal head, the technician sets the target and pulls until the lamp shows. So there is no need to lean in and read a dial in a dim nacelle. However, the largest blade and tower bolts often call for hydraulic tensioning tools instead.
Scales and drives on the TEXC2005TL
| Feature | TEXC2005TL |
|---|---|
| Input drive | 1 in female square |
| Output drive | 1-1/2 in male square |
| U.S. scale | 2,000 ft-lb, 50 ft-lb steps |
| Metric scale | 280 kg·m, 5 kg·m steps |
| Length / width / head depth | 10-7/8 in / 4-3/8 in / 4-7/16 in |
| Optional handles | 82TQP T bar (18 in), 85TQP extension (31 in) |
Snap-on prints this row in the combination U.S./metric T-handle table of catalog CAT1500i. The table also states that its wrenches carry no certificate of calibration. To get one, you add a C to the stock number. So the base TEXC2005TL arrives without that certificate unless you order the C version.
Using the TEXC2005TL with N·m manuals
Many turbine manuals give torque in N·m, while this dial shows ft-lb and kg·m. So multiply kg·m by about 9.81 to get N·m. For example, 200 kg·m is about 1,960 N·m. Therefore, write the converted target on the job card before the climb.
Where the TEXC2005TL reads best
Snap-on’s standard grade holds within 2% of reading from 20% of full scale to full scale. On this head, that means from 400 ft-lb or 56 kg·m up to the full 2,000 ft-lb or 280 kg·m. In other words, that top value is roughly 2,746 N·m. As a result, it suits mid-to-high values on large joints. For lighter fixings, the TEXC602TLA at 600 ft-lb gives finer steps.
Climbing with the TEXC2005TL
Carry the head in a padded bag on a tool lanyard, as your site rules require. Also check that the lamp works before you climb, because a dead signal wastes the trip. Above all, never exceed the rated scale or use the head to free seized bolts. Afterward, wipe the Snap-on TEXC2005TL Torqometer clean and store it dry in the site container.

Wind service FAQ
Does the TEXC2005TL hold a peak reading?
No, it uses a signal light at the preset value. Snap-on lists the TEXC2005TFU as the follow-up model in the same row.
Which handles does Snap-on list for it?
The catalog lists the 82TQP T bar at 18 inches and the 85TQP extension handle at 31 inches. Ask Lost in HCM which to add to your quote.
Is a certificate version offered?
Snap-on offers a certificate version when you add a C to the stock number. Ask Lost in HCM whether the TEXC2005TLC is available.
