Description
Spinning and weaving mills in Nam Dinh, Dong Nai and Binh Duong run thousands of spindles and looms. Every frame shakes all day, so small fixings on drives, beams and guides drift loose. The Snap-on TESI20C torque wrench gives a loom fitter a direct reading in newton meters. It is a Basic Torqometer with one needle, and it ships with a calibration certificate.

Why vibration turns looms into a torque problem
A weaving machine beats the weft many times a second. As a result, every bolt on the frame takes a steady hammer of small shocks. A fixing that started low will loosen first, while one pushed too far can strip a thread in a cast part. So mills that log real values with the TESI20C catch both faults early.
TESI20 figures from the Snap-on catalog
| Item | TESI20 (CAT1500i p.334) |
|---|---|
| Square drive | 3/8 in |
| Range | 20 N·m |
| Increments | 0.5 N·m |
| Length | 9-29/32 in |
| Width / head depth | 2-11/16 in / 1-1/4 in |
| Storage case | PB9 |
These figures sit in the Newton Meter Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy table of catalog CAT1500i. That table notes that a C added to the stock number marks the certificate of calibration model. In other words, the TESI20C is the C form of the TESI20.
Mill jobs for the Snap-on TESI20C torque wrench
- Reed holder and sley screws on rapier and air-jet looms.
- Bearing cap bolts on drafting rollers in ring spinning frames.
- Guide, tensioner and creel bracket fixings.
- Motor mount and belt guard bolts on small drives.
However, the loom maker’s manual always sets the value. Use the dial to apply that figure, not to guess one.
One needle, plain reading
A Basic model has a single needle that shows the torque while you pull. Thus there is nothing extra to set between bolts. The fitter simply watches the needle climb, then stops at the mark. For a mill with many shifts and many hands, the simple TESI20C dial keeps training short.
Grade and useful band
Lost in HCM lists the TESI20C under Newton Meter Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy. Snap-on defines that grade as within 2% of reading, from 20% of full scale up to full scale, in both directions. On this 20 N·m dial, the band therefore starts at 4 N·m. For tiny screws below that point, pick a smaller dial.
Lint, oil and care
Cotton fly and loom oil settle on every surface in a weave room. So wipe the TESI20C after each round and keep it in its PB9 case. Also store it away from air guns, since lint blown into the head does no good. Never use it to crack a stuck bolt loose. Then send it to an outside lab for recalibration on a fixed cycle.

Weaving mill FAQ
Does the TESI20C come with a certificate?
Yes. Lost in HCM lists it with a calibration certificate. Lost in HCM can tell you what that document includes.
Can it read inch-pounds?
No. The TESI20 row lists a newton meter scale only. For U.S. units, look at a combination model instead.
Is 20 N·m enough for loom work?
It covers many small fixings on the frame. For heavy beam or motor base bolts, choose a larger Torqometer.
