Description

Aluminum profile plants in Vietnam push hot billets through dies on presses that run day and night. When a press stops for service, the crew must refit heavy bolts on the container, puller and frame. The Snap-on TESI1360LC torque wrench reads up to 1,360 N·m, and its lamp flashes when the bolt reaches the target.

Why a lamp helps in an extrusion hall

An extrusion line is loud, and the billet oven throws heat across the floor. So a fitter who stares at a dial may also squint through sweat and glare. Snap-on gives its Signal models a built-in light that flashes once the bolt reaches the targeted torque. Therefore the fitter with the TESI1360LC watches the socket, stops on the flash, and then checks the needle for the log.

TESI1360L row in CAT1500i

Item TESI1360L (CAT1500i p.334)
Square drive 1 in
Range 1,360 N·m
Increments 20 N·m
Length 66-13/16 in
Width / head depth 3-9/16 in / 2-1/32 in
Extension handle 92TQPA 4 ft tubular, packed separately (catalog footnote)

Snap-on prints this row in its Newton Meter Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy table. Per the catalog, a C added to the stock number orders the certificate of calibration model. So the TESI1360LC is the C form of the TESI1360L, in line with the Lost in HCM title.

Press bolts within reach of the Snap-on TESI1360LC torque wrench

  • Container housing and holder bolts, where the press builder gives a torque.
  • Puller carriage, hot saw and run-out table bolts.
  • Billet loader, shear and oven frame bolts during a shutdown.
  • Motor, pump unit and tank anchor bolts in the hydraulic room.

However, main tie rods and some cylinder joints often need hydraulic tensioners. The TESI1360LC then covers the joints that list a plain torque value.

Where the 2% grade starts

Lost in HCM files this wrench under Newton Meter Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy. Snap-on defines Standard as within 2% of reading from 20% of full scale to the top. On the TESI1360LC dial, that band therefore begins at 272 N·m.

Heat limits for the Snap-on TESI1360LC torque wrench

Snap-on gives an operating range of 0 to 100 °F for its Torqometer dial wrenches, or about −18 to 38 °C. An extrusion hall can run hotter than that near the oven and the press. So store the wrench in a cool tool room, and bring it out only for the job. Never use it to crack a seized bolt, because Snap-on warns against breaking fasteners loose with a Torqometer.

Handling a long lever

With the handle fitted, the Snap-on TESI1360LC torque wrench gives a long lever, so two people work best. One person pulls slowly and evenly, while the other keeps the socket square on the nut. Book recalibration with an outside lab at a fixed interval.

Extrusion plant FAQ for the TESI1360LC

Is the 4-foot handle part of the kit?

The catalog footnote on the base TESI1360L names a 92TQPA tubular handle, packed on its own. Lost in HCM can confirm whether your unit ships with it.

Can I use it right next to the billet oven?

Snap-on rates its dial wrenches for 0 to 100 °F, so wait until the area and the parts have cooled.
