Description
Many specs on cars, trucks and machines call for torque only, with no angle step. For that work, the Snap-on TECH3R250 torque wrench keeps things simple. It is an electronic Techwrench with a 1/2-inch drive and a sealed fixed ratchet head. It reads up to 250 ft-lb, or 339 N·m, on a digital display.

Techwrench or TechAngle?
Snap-on sells two electronic families that look alike. TechAngle models such as the ATECH3FR250B add an angle mode for torque-plus-turn specs. The Techwrench line, by contrast, lists three modes: manual preset, automatic track and peak hold. It has no angle mode. So choose the TECH3R250 when your work orders give a torque value alone. If a spec reads “torque, then turn 90°”, pick a TechAngle model instead.

Peak hold for audit checks
Peak hold keeps the highest value on screen after the pull. As a result, an inspector can read the applied torque after the operator lifts off. Track mode, on the other hand, shows the value live as you pull. Meanwhile, the preset alert sounds a tone and vibrates the handle near the target, which helps in a loud bay.
Fixed head versus flex head
Snap-on also offers the TECH3FR250, which pairs the same 1/2-inch drive with a sealed flex head. A flex head reaches around obstacles. However, the fixed head of the TECH3R250 keeps the pull straight and simple on open joints.

Care and batteries for the Snap-on TECH3R250 torque wrench
Keep the TECH3R250 in its case between jobs, because a drop can harm the sensor. Snap-on lists an operating range of 40 to 110 °F (5 to 42 °C), so do not leave it in a hot vehicle. Also carry spare AA cells. The wrench warns of a low battery and shuts off after two idle minutes. Never use it to break bolts loose.

TECH3R250 FAQ
Does the TECH3R250 measure angle?
No. Techwrench models offer preset, track and peak hold modes. For angle, look at a TechAngle wrench.
Which units can it display?
Snap-on lists ft-lb, in-lb and N·m, and you switch between them on the wrench.
How low should I use it?
Snap-on certifies accuracy from 20% of full scale, which is 50 ft-lb here. Below that point, the tolerance widens.
